Brothel Creepers
Brothel creepers, sometimes shortened to creepers, are a style of shoe that has thick Crepe rubber, crepe soles, often in combination with suede uppers. This style of footwear became fashionable in the years following World War II, seeing resurgences of popularity at various times since then. History and origins of the name A version of this style of shoe became popular with World War II North African campaign, soldiers in North Africa, who adopted suede boots with hard-wearing crepe rubber. Writing in ''The Observer'' in 1991, John Ayto put the origin of the name 'brothel creeper' to the wartime years. Republica are an English alternative rock band formed in 1994. They reached the height of their popularity from 1996 to 1999. The band went on hiatus in 2001 and reunited in 2008. Samantha Marie Sprackling (born 3 June 1968), known professionally as Saffron, is an English singer, songwriter, actress and the lead singer of the musical group Republica. She also performs solo and appeared in London's ''Starlight Express'' onstage for two years. Robert James Smith (born 21 April 1959) is an English musician who is the co-founder, lead vocalist, guitarist, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of the Cure, a post-punk rock band formed in 1976.
