Etymology Its common name means "tree snake" in Dutch and Afrikaans – ''boom'' meaning "tree", and ''slang'' meaning "snake". In Afrikaans, the name is pronounced . Taxonomy The boomslang is a colubrid snake within the subfamily Colubrinae. It belongs to the genus ''Dispholidus'', which contains two other species, '' D. pembae'' and '' D. punctatus''. The boomslang is thought to be closely related to members of the genera '' Thelotornis'', '' Thrasops'', '' Rhamnophis'', and '' Xyelodontophis'', with which it forms the taxonomic tribe Dispholidini. Close relationships can be shown in the cladogram below: Subspecies Two subspecies are recognised, including the nominotypical subspecies. * ''D. t. kivuensis'' * ''D. t. typus'' The trinomial authority in parentheses for ''D. t. typus'' indicates that the subspecies wa ...

Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Ngorongoro Conservation Area (, ) is a protected area and a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Ngorongoro District, west of Arusha City in Arusha Region, within the Crater Highlands geological area of northeastern Tanzania. The area is named after Ngorongoro Crater, a large volcanic caldera within the area. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA), which administers the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), is an arm of the Tanzanian government and its boundaries follow the boundary of the Ngorongoro District in the Arusha Region. The western portion of the park abuts the Serengeti National Park (SNP). The area comprising the NCA, SNP, and Kenya's Maasai Mara game reserve is home to Great Migration, a massive annual migration of millions of wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and other animals. The NCA also contains Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most popular attractions in Tan ...

Oligodon
''Oligodon'' is Genus (biology), genus of Colubridae, colubrid snakes that was first described by Austrian people, Austrian zoologist Leopold Fitzinger in 1826. This genus is widespread throughout Central Asia, central and tropical Asia. The snakes of this genus are Common name, commonly known as kukri snakes. Description The species in the genus ''Oligodon'' are egg eaters and are usually under 90 cm (35 in) in total length (including tail). Different species display widely variable patterns and colorations. They subsist mostly by scavenger, scavenging the egg (biology), eggs of birds and reptiles. Besides eggs, species of this genus also feeds on lizards, frogs, and small rodents. ''Oligodon'' is a rear-fanged snake genus. All member species have a set of enlarged teeth placed in the back of the upper jaws, as well as functional Duvernoy's glands. They are not dangerous to humans, though. Bites by some species have been reported to bleed excessively, suggesting pre ...

Cladogram
A cladogram (from Greek language, Greek ''clados'' "branch" and ''gramma'' "character") is a diagram used in cladistics to show relations among organisms. A cladogram is not, however, an Phylogenetic tree, evolutionary tree because it does not show how ancestors are related to descendants, nor does it show how much they have changed, so many differing evolutionary trees can be consistent with the same cladogram. A cladogram uses lines that branch off in different directions ending at a clade, a group of organisms with a last common ancestor. There are many shapes of cladograms but they all have lines that branch off from other lines. The lines can be traced back to where they branch off. These branching off points represent a hypothetical ancestor (not an actual entity) which can be inferred to exhibit the traits shared among the terminal taxa above it. This hypothetical ancestor might then provide clues about the order of evolution of various features, adaptation, and other e ...
