Boca Raton ( ; es, Boca Ratón, link=no, ) is a city in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It was first incorporated on August 2, 1924, as "Bocaratone," and then incorporated as "Boca Raton" in 1925. The population was 97,422 in the 2020 census, and it was ranked as the 344th largest city in America in 2022. However, approximately 200,000 additional people with a Boca Raton postal address live outside of municipal boundaries, such as in West Boca Raton. Carlos Manuel Bocanegra (born May 25, 1979) is an American sports executive and former professional soccer player. A two-time MLS Defender of the Year, Bocanegra also played professionally in England, Scotland, France, and Spain. He earned over 100 caps with the United States, serving as captain for six years. He is currently serving as technical director and vice president for Atlanta United. Early life and education Bocanegra was born in Upland, CA on May 25, 1979, to Manuel and Kelly Bocanegra. Boca Grande is a small residential community on Gasparilla Island in southwest Florida. Boca del Río is a city and municipality located in the center of the Mexican state of Veracruz. The small city of Boca del Río serves as the seat of the municipality. Boca Chica is a municipality (''municipio'') of the Santo Domingo province in the Dominican Republic. Within the municipality there is one municipal district (''distritos municipal''): La Caleta. As of the 2012 census it had 123,510 inhabitants, 70,184 living in the city itself and 53,326 in its rural districts (''Secciones''). Boca Chica has a popular beach with the same name, located about 30 kilometers east of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in the south-east region of the country. Boca (Spanish for "Mouth") is a former settlement in Nevada County, California. Situated at an elevation of above sea level, Boca is located on the Southern Pacific Railroad, northeast of Truckee. History Boca was named by Judge Edwin Bryant Crocker of the Central Pacific Railroad in 1868 because of its location at the mouth of the Little Truckee River. In Spanish, ''Boca'' translates to "mouth" and "river mouth". Crocker’s younger brother, Charles, was one of the four who oversaw the Central Pacific Railroad's construction and operation.
