BlogTV
BlogTV was a live-streaming video blog service. It was first established in Ramat Gan, Israel in January 2004 by founders Ilan Ben-Dov, Dan Chen, Guy Eliav, Nir Ofir, and Oren Levy as a webcasting company. The service is operated under the Tapuz brand. BlogTV's goals were to provide a means for anyone with Internet access to express their talents and ideas to the world. In 2006 BlogTV launched its Canadian activity under the name BlogTV.ca. BlogTV.com was officially launched in June 2007 in the US and the rest of the world. Users could create live video shows, interact with their audiences or invite co-hosts (adults only) to join their show over the internet or by using Wireless Application Protocol, WAP. The broadcasters were able to broadcast to their audience with a webcam. The platform also included a chat system. The site had a promotional partnership with ICQ, an IM platform. Ilan Ben-Dov
Ilan Ben-Dov (; born 16 January 1957, in Tel Aviv, Israel) is an Israeli businessman and investor. Business career Ilan Ben-Dov started in business at the age of 17, working as a games operator at a swimming pool. He began importing SEGA electronic games 13 years later, before founding Suny Electronics Ltd in 1991. In 1993, during a Tel Aviv Stock Exchange bubble, Suny raised NIS 20 million in an IPO. In 1998, Ben-Dov obtained the Israel franchise to import Samsung Electronics cellular telephones, and acquired control of the Achla web portal from Avi and Hagit Maor in September 1999. Acquisitions continued to grow the empire, and in January 2001 Ben-Dov acquired the Tapuz web portal for $450,000 through Achla. YouNow is an American live streaming broadcasting service where users stream their own live video content or interact with the video streams of other users in real time. The service is available on its website and on Android and iOS apps. As of 2015, the majority of the users of YouNow are under 24 years old. Many users perform music, game, engage with their fans or dance, others talk or make jokes. A tag-based topic system enables viewers to browse content of their choice, while trending streams enable users to locate more popular webcasters. As of August 2015, the service handles 150,000 broadcasts each day. It competes with apps like TikTok, Twitch, and Instagram Live.
