Aymond Le Jeune (1059–1063)
Aymond (foaled 1927 in Ontario) was a Canadian Thoroughbred horse racing, racehorse best known for winning the 1930 King's Plate. Bred by Whitby, Ontario, Whitby, Ontario's James Heffering, he was out of the mare, Ablaze, and sired by Roselyon, a son of the 1911 Epsom Derby winner and British Horseracing Hall of Fame inductee, Sunstar (racehorse), Sunstar. Aymond was first purchased by Frank O'Connor who subsequently sold him in a 1929 dispersal for $1,025 to Toronto businessman Ryland H. New, Ryland New who had won the 1927 King's Plate with Troutlet. Trained by Jack Hutton (horseman), Jack Hutton, Aymond's best result at age two was a third-place finish in the Coronation Futurity Stakes. British Horseracing Hall Of Fame
The National Horseracing Museum (NHRM) is a museum in Newmarket, Suffolk dedicated to the history of horseracing. It covers a 5-acre site on Palace Street in the centre of the town, having previously been housed in the Jockey Club Rooms on Newmarket High Street. Together with the British Sporting Art Trust and Retraining of Racehorses it is part of the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing & Sporting Art which was opened by Elizabeth II in 2016. Queen's Plate
The King's Plate (known as the Queen's Plate from 1860 to 1901 and 1952 to 2022) is Canada's oldest thoroughbred horse race and the oldest continuously run race in North America, having been founded in 1860. It is run at a distance of for a maximum of 17 three-year-old thoroughbred horses foaled in Canada. The race is the first in the Canadian Triple Crown, typically taking place each summer at Woodbine Racetrack in Etobicoke, Ontario. The event was scheduled in June or July until 2020, when it was postponed to September, due to government-imposed restrictions in place through the COVID-19 pandemic. Since 2021, Woodbine ran the Queen's Plate, and now runs the King's Plate, in August. The race's name reflects the title of the reigning Canadian monarch, following on Queen Victoria's donation of the first cup. Baleen is a filter-feeding system inside the mouths of baleen whales. To use baleen, the whale first opens its mouth underwater to take in water. The whale then pushes the water out, and animals such as krill are filtered by the baleen and remain as a food source for the whale. Coronation Futurity Stakes
The Coronation Futurity Stakes is a Thoroughbred horse race for 2-year-old horses foaled in Canada. It is run annually in mid-November at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at a distance of miles. Along with its turf counterpart, the Cup and Saucer Stakes, the Coronation Futurity is the richest race for two-year-olds foaled in Canada. Inaugurated in 1902 at Toronto's Old Woodbine Racetrack, it was created in celebration of the August 9, 1902 coronation of Edward VII of the United Kingdom.
