National Axe Throwing Federation
The International Axe Throwing Federation (IATF) is a global organization, originally established in the United States in 2016 as the National Axe Throwing Federation (NATF) with the purpose of promoting and regulating the sport of axe throwing. IATF has over 20,000 competitive throwers. Its leagues culminate in the International Axe Throwing Championship (IATC) to award the Wilson Cup and over $16,500 in prize money and charitable donation. Lumberjack is a mostly North American term for workers in the logging industry who perform the initial harvesting and transport of trees. Lumberjack World Championship
The Lumberjack World Championships are held annually in Hayward, Wisconsin. The three-day event began in 1960 and is held at the Lumberjack Bowl in front of an estimated 12,000 spectators. There are 21 events for both men and women to compete for over $75,000 in prize money. Contestants come from a wide variety of countries including Canada, Ireland, Australia, Wales, Czech Republic, Spain, Japan, Belgium, New Zealand, and the United States (with over 30 states being represented each year). The events include sawing, chopping, logrolling, and climbing to test the strength and agility of over 100 competitors. The World Axe Throwing League (WATL) is a global governing body of urban axe throwing. WATL was founded in 2017 by representatives from Canada, the United States, Brazil, and Ireland.
