The anthem of Kamchatka Krai (, ), a Krais of Russia, krai in far eastern Russia, was adopted in Law of Kamchatka Krai No. 397 of 5 March 2010, "On the Anthem of Kamchatka Krai". The lyrics were written by Boris Dubrovin (poet), Boris Dubrovin, and the music was composed by Evgeniy Morozov (choirmaster), Evgeniy Morozov. The law introducing the anthem came into force on 1 July 2010, the anniversary of the Krai's creation on 1 July 2007. History Kamchatka Krai was formed on 1 July 2007 from the unification of Kamchatka Oblast and Koryak Autonomous Okrug. On 18 August 2008, a competition was announced by the Heraldic Commission to create symbols for the new krai, to "most vividly reflect the historical development of the region, its spiritual, political, economic, cultural and national heritage." Kamchatka Krai (, ) is a federal subjects of Russia, federal subject of Russia (a krai), situated in the Russian Far East. It is administratively part of the Far Eastern Federal District. The anthem of Kamchatka Oblast (, ) was the anthem of the former Kamchatka Oblast in Far Eastern Russia, which existed until 1 July 2007. It was adopted in Law of Kamchatka Oblast No. 245 of 29 December 2004, "On the anthem of Kamchatka Oblast". The lyrics were written by Boris Dubrovin, and the music was composed by Evgeniy Morozov. History Work on the anthem began in 2001, when the Heraldic Commission was formed. The Heraldic Commission suggested Russian poet Boris Dubrovin write the lyrics of the anthem, while the music was composed by composer and head of the Kamchatka Choir Capella Evgeniy Morozov. The anthem was finally signed into law on 29 December 2004 by governor Mikhail Mashkovtsev, nearly eight months after the adoption of the flag and coat of arms on 5 May 2004. Boris Savvovich Dubrovin (real surname Gall, patronymic in some sources Savvich; ; 24 May 1926 – 25 June 2020) was a Soviet and Russian poet, songwriter and author. He was a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Biography Dubrovin was born in Moscow in 1926. His father was Savva Semenovich Gall, from Uman, Kiev Governorate, and his mother was Esfir Abelevna Khaza, from Pinsk, Minsk Governorate. His father was a typographic worker in his youth, and in the Russian Civil War he was a commissar in the First Cavalry Army. His grandfather was a church watchman. His father had a younger sister. In 1936, when Dubrovin was 9 years old, his father was arrested as an enemy of the people, and after a while his mother was arrested for not reporting on the enemy of the people. His father died in prison, after which he was rehabilitated. His mother, a doctor, served 6 years imprisonment, after which she was disabled. She was also rehabilitated. Kamchatka Oblast () was, until being incorporated into Kamchatka Krai on July 1, 2007, a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). To the north, it bordered Magadan Oblast and Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.
