It is located in the old Al-Jdayde, Jdeydeh Quarter, outside the historic walls of the Ancient City of Aleppo. The square suffered catastrophic damage during the Syrian civil war. History In 1400, the Mongol Empire, Mongol-Turkic leader Timur, Tamerlane captured the city of Aleppo from the Mamluk Sultanate (Cairo), Mamluks and massacred many of its inhabitants. After the withdrawal of the Mongols, the Muslim population returned to Aleppo. In contrast the Christians, Christian residents, unable to resettle in their own city quarters, established a new neighbourhood just to the north of the city walls in the early 1420s. This area became known as Aleppo's ''Al-Jdayde, al-Jdeydeh'' (Jdeideh) Quarter (for "new district" in Arabic). Al-Hatab Square became the centre of this newly established quarter and was surrounded by many churches, Turkish bath, hammams, khans, c ...
[...More Info...] &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp [...Related Items...] &nbsp &nbsp OR: &nbsp &nbsp [Wikipedia] &nbsp [Google] &nbsp [Baidu] &nbsp

<tr; The shop was established in 1885 by Abdel Razzaq "Abu Abdo" al-Masri at al-Hatab Square, near the Zamaria house in the Jdeydeh Quarter of the Ancient City of Aleppo. The parlor is famous for levantine and Aleppo style fūl dishes. Usually, the fava beans are left simmering in large copper jars throughout the night, to be served from the next morning on; the beans swim in tahini and olive oil, completed with a hint of red pepper paste over the top. The shop is one of the oldest and most famous parlors in Aleppo. In 2013 the shop was severely damaged during the clashes between the Syrian Army and the militants of the armed opposition. The shop has been relocated to a nearby street since late August 2012. Ful medames is traditionally made in and served out of a large metal jug. It is notably a staple food in Egypt and is considered a national dish, especially in the northern cities of Cairo and Gizah. Fava beans can sometimes be also found in other cuisines in the Middle East, and Africa, though cooked differently. History Some writers have suggested that ful medames dated all the way back to Ancient Egypt. Some evidence of the use of ful is a cache of 2,600 dried fava beans unearthed at a late Neolithic site on the outskirts of Nazareth. Traditionally, urban planning followed a top-down approach in master planning the physical layout of human settlements. The primary concern was the public welfare, which included considerations of efficiency, sanitation, protection and use of the environment, as well as effects of the master plans on the social and economic activities. Over time, urban planning has adopted a focus on the social and environmental bottom-lines that focus on planning as a tool to improve the health and well-being of people while maintaining sustainability standards. In principle, speculation can involve any tradable good or financial instrument. Speculators are particularly common in the markets for stocks, bonds, commodity futures, currencies, fine art, collectibles, real estate, and derivatives. Speculators play one of four primary roles in financial markets, along with hedgers, who engage in transactions to offset some other pre-existing risk, arbitrageus who seek to profit from situations where fungible instruments trade at different prices in different market segments, and investors who seek profit through long-term ownership of an instrument's underlying attributes. Roads (including the pavement), public squares, parks, and beaches are typically considered public space. To a limited extent, government buildings which are open to the public, such as public libraries, are public spaces, although they tend to have restricted areas and greater limits upon use. Although not considered public space, privately owned buildings or property visible from sidewalks and public thoroughfares may affect the public visual landscape, for example, by outdoor advertising. Recently, the concept of shared space has been advanced to enhance the experience of pedestrians in public space jointly used by automobiles and other vehicles. Public space has also become something of a touchstone for critical theory in relation to philosophy, urban geography, visual art, cultural studies, social studies and urban design. Background Beit Achiqbash is one of a number of historic buildings found in the Al-Jdayde Christian quarter of Aleppo. It was built in 1757 CE. A Turk named Ashiqbash later bought the house after the Karaly (Qara Ali) moved to Alexandretta. The house is famous for its courtyard, which is extravagantly decorated in a Mamluk-Rococo style. The building was turned into a museum in 1973 and restored in the 1980s. It is well known for the fine carved ornaments that decorate its courtyard. Its style is said to have been greatly influenced by Baroque decorative traditions. The rooms on its eastern side were eliminated to make way for the street that now runs in front of the property. It was named after the Ghazaleh family that owned it for about two centuries. Since 1914, it was used as a public school and was recently restored to host the Memory Museum of the city of Aleppo. Beit Ghazaleh is located in the Al-Jdayde district of Aleppo. History: the origins of the Ġazaleh House in Aleppo The house is located on the Western edge of a large suburb inhabited by a multi-religious and multi-ethnic population. This neighbourhood to the North of the old city of Aleppo developed since the late Mameluke period. This area became the Christian quarter of Jdeideh which was organically clustered around its churches. Here lived the notables of Aleppo's Christian communities, notably the Armenians who specialised in trade with India and Persia.
