Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous Operations Room
The Al-Bunyan al-Marsous Operations Room (also transliterated as al-Banyan al-Marsous Operations Room) is a coalition of insurgent groups active in Daraa Governorate, Syria during the Syrian civil war. Composition The operations room includes southern factions of the Free Syrian Army, Army of the Revolution#Yarmouk Army, Jaysh Al-Yarmouk, Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, Ahrar al-Sham, Jaysh al-Islam and Jamaat Bayt al-Maqdis al-Islamiya. Members of the Islamic Muthanna Movement defected from ISIS in late March 2016, forming the al-Murabitin Brigade. The brigade emphasized that it was part of the operations room. History The operations room launched a battle for the al-Manshiyah neighborhood in Daraa in February 2017, to control the Daraa Border Crossing. The battle lasted until May 2017. The Army of the Revolution (; ''Jaysh al-Thawrā'') was a Syrian opposition, Syrian rebel alliance affiliated with the Southern Front (Syrian rebel group), Southern Front of the Free Syrian Army. Bellingcat (stylised bell¿ngcat) is a Netherlands-based investigative journalism group that specialises in fact-checking and open-source intelligence (OSINT). It was founded by British citizen journalist and former blogger Eliot Higgins in July 2014. Daraa
Daraa (, Levantine Arabic: ) is a city in southwestern Syria, north of the border with Jordan. It is the capital of Daraa Governorate in the Hauran region. Located south of Damascus on the Damascus–Amman highway, it serves as a way station for travelers. ISIS
Isis was a major goddess in ancient Egyptian religion whose worship spread throughout the Greco-Roman world. The Islamic Muthanna Movement (, ''Harakat al-Muthanna al-Islamiya'') was a Syrian Salafist rebel group based in Daraa that had been active during Syrian Civil War. After its formation in 2012 as the " Muthanna bin Haritha Vanquisher of the Persians Battalion" (), it expanded to a sizable group. The group has been described by the As-Safir newspaper as "one of the most powerful armed factions in Daraa". The group has joined multiple operations rooms. The movement worked with a unit of Ahrar ash-Sham called the Harmayn Brigade and the al-Nusra Front in July 2013. Jaysh Al-Islam
Jaysh al-Islam (, meaning ''Army of Islam''), formerly known as Liwa al-Islam (, Brigade of Islam), is a coalition of Islamist rebel units involved in the Syrian Civil War. The group was part of the Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council until December 2013, but in November 2013 started the Syrian Islamic Front and the next month broke with the SMC and the Free Syrian Army. Its primary base of operations was the Damascus area, particularly the city of Douma and the rest of the region of Eastern Ghouta, where Jaysh al-Islam was the largest rebel faction, as was Liwa al-Islam before. Ahrar Al-Sham
Harakat Ahrar al-Sham al-Islamiyya (), commonly referred to as Ahrar al-Sham, was a coalition of multiple Sunni Islamist units that coalesced into a single brigade and later a division in order to fight against the Syrian Government led by Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian Civil War. Ahrar al-Sham was led by Hassan Aboud until his death in 2014. In July 2013, Ahrar al-Sham had 10,000 to 20,000 fighters, which at the time made it the second most powerful unit fighting against al-Assad, after the Free Syrian Army.
