Ad-Daqahliyah
Dakahlia ( ', ) is an Egyptian governorate lying northeast of Cairo, Egypt. Its area is approximately 3,500 km2. Although the capital of the governorate is Mansoura, it got its name from the ancient town of Daqahlah (, from ) which is located in the modern Damietta Governorate. History Archaeology According to Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, in February, 2020, Egyptian archaeologists have uncovered 83 tombs dating back to 4,000 B.C, known as the Naqada III period. Various small pottery pots in different shapes, as well as some sea shells, makeup tools, eyeliner pots and jewels, were also revealed in the burial. In April 2021, Egyptian archeologists announced the discovery of 110 burial tombs at the Koum el-Khulgan archeological site. Of these, 68 oval-shaped tombs date back to the Predynastic Period, while 37 rectangular-shaped tombs were from Second Intermediate Period. The rest of the tombs date back to the Naqada III period. Belqas (, ) is a town located in the north-western corner of the Dakahlia Governorate in Egypt. Etymology The towns older name is al-Mima wa-l-Maaskar () points out that the modern name probably comes from . It is also a site of the old Coptic monastery called Deir al-Mema or Deir al-Askar. El Matareya (also spelled Matarieh or la Matarée) (  ). Is a coastal town, is a region ('' markaz'') in Egypt.
