Karl Aben
Karl Aben ( Latvian: ''Kārlis Abens''; 23 September 1896 – 22 October 1976) was an Estonian and Latvian linguist and translator. In Estonia, he became known as the country's foremost translator from Latvian at the time (translated works of Jānis Rainis, Vilis Lācis and Andrejs Upīts, among many others), but he also translated from Estonian into Latvian ( Oskar Luts ''Abandoned House''). Aben was born into an Estonian family in Northern Latvia, he studied at the University of Tartu, graduating with a degree in philology in 1940. From 1940 to 1941 he worked at the University of Riga as a lecturer of Estonian and Finnish. Aben Kandel
Aben Kandel (August 15, 1897 – January 28, 1993) was an American screenwriter, novelist, and boxer. He was screenwriter on such classic B movies as '' I Was A Teenage Werewolf'', Joan Crawford's final movie '' Trog'', and one of Leonard Nimoy's first starring vehicles, '' Kid Monk Baroni''. He is the father of poet Lenore Kandel and screenwriter Stephen Kandel. Biography Born in Berlad, Romania, Kandel came to the United States as a child and was educated at New York University and its law school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and later enlisted in the United States Coast and Geodetic Survey. He began writing novels in 1927 and wrote two hit plays ''Hot Money'' (1931) that was filmed as ''High Pressure'' (1932) and '' Hot Money'' (1936), and translated a German play ''Die Wunderbar'' by Geza Herczeg and Karl Farkas together with Irving Caesar where the pair added their own songs calling at ''The Wonder Bar'' that was acquired by Al Jolson and filmed in 1934 ...

Muhammad ibn Umayyah () better known by the hispanicized version of his name, Aben Humeya (born Fernando de Válor y Córdoba, 20 October 1569), was a Morisco leader who commanded the Morisco Revolt against Philip II of Spain in the Alpujarras region, near Granada. Early life Aben Humeya was born Fernando de Válor into a Morisco family and claimed to be of noble lineage, descended from the Umayyad dynasty. The name Aben Humeya is the Hispanicized version of the Arabic name ''Ibn Umayya'', meaning "Son of Umayya" and hinting to a descent from the Umayyads. Prior to the commencement of the Morisco revolt, Aben Humeya had been a town councilor of Granada and had been under house arrest for pulling out a dagger in the city council.
