Let's Work Together
"Let's Stick Together" is a twelve-bar blues, blues-based rhythm and blues song written by Wilbert Harrison. In 1962, Fury Records released it as a single. Harrison further developed the song and in 1969, Sue Records issued it as a two-part single titled "Let's Work Together". Although Harrison's original song did not appear in the record charts, his reworked version entered the U.S. Top 40. Several artists subsequently recorded the songs; "Let's Work Together" by Canned Heat (1970) and "Let's Stick Together" by Bryan Ferry (1976) were both chart successes. Original songs "Let's Stick Together" is a mid-tempo twelve-bar blues-style R&B song. Wilbert Harrison
Wilbert Huntington Harrison (January 5, 1929 – October 26, 1994) was an American rhythm and blues singer, pianist, guitarist and harmonica player. Biography Harrison was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He had a Hot 100 number-one hits of 1959 (United States), Billboard #1 record in 1959 with the song "Kansas City (Leiber and Stoller song), Kansas City". The song was written in 1952 and was one of the first credited collaborations by the team of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a music recording sales certification, gold disc. Harrison recorded "Kansas City" for the Harlem-based entrepreneur Bobby Robinson (record producer, label owner), Bobby Robinson, who released it on his Fury Records, Fury record label. Slide Guitar
Slide guitar is a technique for playing the guitar that is often used in blues music. It involves playing a guitar while holding a hard object (a slide) against the strings, creating the opportunity for glissando effects and deep vibratos that reflect characteristics of the human singing voice. It typically involves playing the guitar in the traditional position (flat against the body) with the use of a slide fitted on one of the guitarist's fingers. The slide may be a metal or glass tube, such as the neck of a bottle, giving rise to the term bottleneck guitar to describe this type of playing. The strings are typically plucked (not strummed) while the slide is moved over the strings to change the pitch. Bob Hite
Robert Ernest Hite (February 26, 1943 – April 5, 1981) was an American musician who was the co-lead vocalist of the blues rock band Canned Heat from 1965 to his death in 1981. His nickname was "The Bear". Canned Heat Hite was introduced to Alan Wilson by Henry Vestine and the two of them helped convince blues pianist Sunnyland Slim (1906–1995) to get back into the recording studio to record. In 1965, Hite formed a band with Wilson and Vestine. This trio formed the core of Canned Heat. They were eventually joined by Larry Taylor (bass) and Frank Cook (drums). Hite performed with Canned Heat at Monterey in June 1967 and Woodstock in August 1969. Alan Christie Wilson (July 4, 1943 – September 3, 1970), nicknamed "Blind Owl", was an American musician, best known as the co-founder, leader, co-lead singer, and primary composer of the blues rock band Canned Heat. "Going Up the Country" (also "Goin' Up the Country") is a song adapted and recorded by American blues rock band Canned Heat. Called a "rural hippie anthem", it became one of the band's biggest hits and best-known songs. As with their previous single, " On the Road Again", the song was adapted from a 1920s blues song by Henry Thomas "Bull Doze Blues" and sung by Alan Wilson. "On the Road Again" is a song recorded by the American blues rock group Canned Heat in 1967. A driving blues rock boogie, it was adapted from earlier blues songs and includes mid-1960s psychedelic rock elements.
