Oakland Ballers
The Oakland Ballers, nicknamed the Oakland B's, are an independent baseball team that started play in the Pioneer League in 2024. History The team was created following the approval of the Oakland Athletics' relocation to Las Vegas by MLB team owners. The non-profit Oakland 68s raised more than $2 million to establish the team and was inspired by the success of Oakland Roots SC soccer team. The press release for the team's announcement included a pledge for fan ownership based around a 2024 crowdfunding campaign. Don Wakamatsu was appointed as the team's first-ever executive vice president of baseball operations. The first player signed to the team was Dondrei Hubbard, announced on December 10, 2023. They are located in Oakland, California, and initially planned to play their home games at Laney College, with an expansion of the park's facilities to hold upwards of 2,500 fans. Adolph Baller
Adolph Baller (July 30, 1909 – January 23, 1994) was an Austrian-American pianist who played classical and romantic music. He performed with Yehudi Menuhin for several years, toured internationally for decades with the Alma Trio, and was a renowned piano teacher at Stanford and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Early years Baller was born July 30, 1909, in Brody, which at the time was in the Austro-Hungarian empire and is now in western Ukraine. At age 8, he went to Vienna to study piano with a former student of Franz Liszt. When he was 13 he gave his first solo performance, with the Vienna Philharmonic, following it with performances in all major European capitals. In March 1938, Nazi soldiers learned that he was a pianist and a Jew. They arrested him, beat him and crushed his hands. Jay Baller
Jay Scot Baller (born October 6, 1960) is an American former pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) who played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs, and Kansas City Royals. Listed at 6' 6", 215 lbs., he batted and threw right-handed. Baller spent parts of six different seasons in the majors but never was able to stick with a big league time for an entire campaign. Primarily a reliever, he recorded 137 saves in 14 Minor League seasons and six saves in 94 Major League contests. Career Baller was selected by the Phillies in the fourth round (98th overall) of the 1979 MLB draft out of Canby High School in Canby, Oregon. He made his Major League debut with the Phillies as a reliever on September 19, 1982, throwing a scoreless, hitless inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates. ''NBA Ballers'' is a 2004 streetball simulation video game developed and published by Midway Games, Midway. The game features fictional National Basketball Association, NBA analyst Bob Benson (voiced and depicted by Terry Abler) and Supernatural (rapper), MC Supernatural as the commentators.
