ZOEgirl was an American contemporary Christian music, Christian pop girl group formed in 1999. The group comprised Chrissy Conway-Katina, Alisa Childers and Kristin Swinford-Schweain. They were signed to Sparrow Records from 1999 to 2006 and released their debut single "I Believe" in 2000. This song and their self-titled debut album ''ZOEgirl (album), ZOEgirl'' helped them become Sparrow's fastest selling artist of all time. ''ZOEgirl'' is the debut studio album by the American Christian pop girl group ZOEgirl. It was released on August 15, 2000 through Sparrow Records. "I Believe", "Anything Is Possible", "No You" and "Living For You" were released as radio singles. Background After the ZOEgirl group was formed, they immediately began to work on their self-titled album at a fast pace. They temporarily separated during the Christmas holidays of 1999 to pray about the album and the message they should record on it. After this, they realized that they wanted to talk about their relationships with God and the romantic relationships that people may face in life. Alisa Childers
Alisa Childers (born Alisa Noelle Girard; April 17, 1975) is an American author and singer, known as a member of the all-female Christian music group ZOEgirl. Career Early years Born Alisa Noelle Girard to Karen and Christian music pioneer, Chuck Girard of Love Song, she grew up in San Fernando Valley, California. She studied gymnastics and piano at a young age. At the age of 21, she moved to New York and ran a youth center in southeast Manhattan. ZOEgirl Childers left New York and moved back to California, where she was contacted by a family friend about starting a group upon return. After a few months, Childers agreed to pursue the idea. She was introduced to Kristin Swinford-Schweain and the two began composing songs. A few months later, Chrissy Conway-Katina joined the group. In 1999, ZOEgirl was signed to Sparrow Records. Sparrow Records is a Christian music record label and a division of Universal Music Group. History Sparrow Records was founded in 1976 by Billy Ray Hearn, then artists and repertoire (A&R) director at Myrrh Records. Barry McGuire was the first artist signed to the label, followed quickly by John Michael Talbot and his brother Terry, Janny Grein, and Annie Herring of 2nd Chapter of Acts; all of whom released albums with Sparrow in May of that year.
