Zhang Lin (dissident)
Zhang Lin (born 1963 in Bengbu, Anhui) is a cyber-dissident from the People's Republic of China. He led student hunger strikes in Bengbu in 1989. He was imprisoned on 29 January 2005, in Bengbu's No. 1 Detention Center. August 2009, Lin was released free. However, he has constantly been harassed by Chinese government after that. He was imprisoned again on September 5, 2014, and was released in September 2016. Zhang moved to the US in 2018 and he is running his YouTube channel. Zhang Lin's daughter Zhang Anni was arrested at her primary school on 27 February 2013 and detained with her father Zhang Lin for three hours. Zhang Lin (; born 1965) is a lieutenant general in the People's Liberation Army of China who is the current head of the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission, in office since January 2022. Biography Zhang was born in 1965. He was promoted to chief of staff of the in 2019, but having held the position for only one year, in 2020 he was appointed head of the Logistics Department of the People's Armed Police. He became director of the Agency for Offices Administration of the Central Military Commission in March 2021, and soon was commissioned as head of the Logistic Support Department of the Central Military Commission in January 2022. Zhang Lin (; born 6 January 1987) is a retired Chinese competitive male swimmer. He is an Olympic silver medalist, world champion, and the current world-record holder in the 800 metre freestyle. Early and personal life On 6 January 1987, Zhang was born in Haidian Deistrict, Beijing City. He is the second son to his parents Zhang Zhongquan (张仲泉) and Zhang Fenglan (张凤兰). He has an elder brother Zhang Cong (张琮) who is five years his senior. Both of his parents are employed by a property management company. Zhang began swimming at the age of seven. In 2000, he decided to be a professional swimmer. His swimming idol is Australian Grant Hackett. Zhang is an alumnus of Beijing 101 Middle School.
