Zenigata Heiji
is a Japanese fictional character, the hero of a series of Japanese novels, films and TV programmes set in the Edo period (1603–1868) of Japanese history. He is a policeman (岡っ引き, '' okappiki'') who catches criminals by throwing coins, the '' zeni'' of the title, thus ''Zenigata Heiji''. The hero was created by novelist Kodō Nomura (野村胡堂, ''Nomura Kodō'') in 1931. Heiji's beat is ''Myōjin-shita'', "beneath the (Kanda) Myōjin shrine". Situation The hero, Heiji, lives with his wife Oshizu. His sidekick is Hachigorō (八五郎), also known as Karappachi or just Hachi. He uses deduction, a jutte, and old-fashioned coins with a hole, called kan'eitsūhō (寛永通宝), as weapons to catch criminals. It's implied that "Zenigata" isn't his surname, but a nickname given to him. Kodō Nomura
Osakazu Nomura (野村 長一, ''Nomura Osakazu''; 15 October 1882 - 14 April 1963), known by his pen name , was a Japanese novelist and music critic during the Shōwa era. He also used the pen name Araebisu for his music criticism. He is known for his creation of the fictional detective Zenigata Heiji. Early life Nomura was born in the rural district of Shiwa county, Iwate prefecture in northern Japan, the younger son of a farmer. As a youth, he loved to read, and one of his favorite works was the Chinese classic ''Outlaws of the Marsh.'' He was sent to boarding school in Morioka, where he met Kindaichi Kyosuke, later a noted linguist and Namura's lifelong friend. One year behind him in the same school was future poet Ishikawa Takuboku. Zenigata Heiji In Case Closed
, usually called and formerly Heiji Zenigata VII, is a fictional character created by Monkey Punch for his manga series ''Lupin III'', which debuted in ''Weekly Manga Action'' on August 10, 1967. He is named after the famous fictional Japanese detective Zenigata Heiji, of whom he is a descendant. Throughout the series, Zenigata acts as a foil to Lupin III who constantly tries to capture him at all costs, only for the latter to escape in the end. Despite holding a grudge against him, he is forced to side with him on some occasions whenever there’s a greater threat. Japanese Mon (currency)
The was the currency of Japan from the Muromachi period in 1336 until the early Meiji period in 1870. It co-circulated with the new '' sen'' until 1891. Throughout Japanese history, there were many styles of currency of many shapes, styles, designs, sizes and materials, including gold, silver, bronze, etc. The kanji for ''mon'' () also shares its name with Chinese wén, Korean mun, Vietnamese văn. is a genre of film, television, and theatre in Japan. Literally meaning "historical drama, period dramas", it refers to stories that take place before the Meiji Restoration of 1868.
