Anton Zaslavski (; born 2 September 1989), known professionally as Zedd (), is a German record producer and DJ. His stage name, Zedd, was derived from ''zed'', the Z#Name and pronunciation, English pronunciation, barring American English, for the first letter of his surname. Raised in Kaiserslautern, Zedd rose to mainstream success with his 2012 single "Clarity (Zedd song), Clarity" (featuring Foxes (singer), Foxes), which peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and won Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording, Best Dance Recording at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, 56th Grammy Awards. ''The Sword of Truth'' is a series of 21 sword and sorcery novels and six novellas written by Terry Goodkind. The books follow the protagonists Richard Cypher, Kahlan Amnell, Nicci, Cara, and Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander on their quest to defeat oppressors who seek to control the world and those who wish to unleash evil upon the world of the living. While each novel was written to stand alone, except for the final three that were intended to be a trilogy, they follow a common timeline and are linked by ongoing events that occur throughout the series. The series began in 1994 with '' Wizard's First Rule'' and Goodkind wrote eighteen more novels in addition to a novella titled '' Debt of Bones''. Nick Zedd
Nick Zedd ( James Franklyn Harding III; January 25, 1956 – February 27, 2022) was an American filmmaker, author, and painter based in Mexico City. He coined the term Cinema of Transgression in 1985 to describe a loose-knit group of like-minded filmmakers and artists using shock value and black humor in their work. These filmmakers and artistic collaborators included Richard Kern, Tessa Hughes Freeland, Lung Leg, Kembra Pfahler, Jack Smith and Lydia Lunch. Under numerous pen names, Zedd edited and wrote the ''Underground Film Bulletin'' (1984–1990) which publicized the work of these filmmakers. The Cinema of Transgression was explored in Jack Sargeant's book '' Deathtripping''. Early life Zedd was born in Takoma Park, Maryland, on January 25, 1956. Zedd moved to New York in 1976 to study at Brooklyn's Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts.
