Zbyněk Zbyslav Stránský
Zbyněk Zbyslav Stránský (26 October 1926 – 21 January 2016) was a Czech museologist, considered the “father of scientific museology”. Between the years 1960 and 1970, he was responsible for one of the first attempts to structure a theoretical basis for museology, when directing the Department of Museology of the Moravian Museum, in Brno. With the support of the museum director, Jan Jelínek, he founded a School of museological thinking in Brno, aiming to connect museum practice to a specific theoretical system. Zbyněk Z. Stránský, as he used to sign his texts, was the pioneer in the construction of a museology that is conceived as social science, creating an autonomous system of thought based on specific concepts. Paul Otlet
Paul Marie Ghislain Otlet (; ; 23 August 1868 – 10 December 1944) was a Belgian author, entrepreneur, lawyer and peace activist; predicting the arrival of the internet before World War II, he is among those considered to be the father of information science, a field he called "documentation". Otlet created the Universal Decimal Classification, which would later become a faceted classification. Otlet was responsible for the development of an early information retrieval tool, the "" (RBU) which utilized 3x5 inch index cards, used commonly in library catalogs around the world (now largely displaced by the advent of the online public access catalog (OPAC)). A Kenneth Hudson (4 July 1916 – 28 December 1999) was a journalist, museologist, broadcaster and book author. Early career He was born in Harlesden and educated at the Lower School of John Lyon (now The John Lyon School) in Harrow and at University College London. In the Second World War he registered as a conscientious objector, serving in the Friends' Ambulance Unit. After the Second World War he worked in Germany in the '' Entnazifizierung'' campaign. Waldisa Rússio Camargo Guarnieri (5 September 1935 – 11 June 1990), was a professor and museologist, most known in Brazil simply as Waldisa Rússio. She became one of the most influential personalities in the development of theoretical Museology and contributed to the constitution of the disciplinary field of Museology in Brazil. Vinoš Sofka
Vinoš Sofka (4 July 1929 – 9 February 2016) was a museologist. He co-founded the International Committee for Museology (ICOFOM) in 1977 and served as its chairman and vice chair. Life and career Vinoš Sofka was born in 1929 in Brno, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), the eldest of four children. He studied law at Prague University but was not permitted to work as a lawyer, instead becoming a bricklayer; he eventually became assistant director of the Archaeological Institute at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. Citing In 1962, Sofka took over coordination of the exhibition celebrating the anniversary of Great Moravia. He travelled with the Great Moravia exhibition as curator to Germany (both East and West Berlin), Greece, Austria, Poland and Sweden.
