Zağnos SK (women's Handball)
Zağnos SK () is the women's handball team of the same named club in Trabzon, Turkey. Club colors are red, blue and white. Competitions The women's handball branch was founded when the club Trabzon Hentbol Akademi SK, which played in the Turkish Women's Handball First League, was purchased and renamed Zağnos SK. The team finished the 2013–14 season as runner-up, failed to advance to the Super League after ranking the third place in the play-offs. However, they were promoted as placeholder for a team, which missed to apply on time. Thus, they played in the 2014–15 season for the first time in the Turkey Women's Super League. The team won the play-outs ranking first in the group, and qualified to remain in the league. Team Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a Handball goalkeeper, goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The goals are surrounded by a zone where only the defending goalkeeper is allowed; goals must be scored by throwing the ball from outside the zone or while "diving" into it. The sport is usually played indoors, but outdoor variants exist in the forms of field handball, Czech handball (which were more common in the past) and beach handball. Zağnosspor () is a multi-sports club established in Trabzon, Turkey. The club is active in the branches football, men's and women's handball, volleyball, boxing and swimming. The club is named after Zağnos Pasha ( fl. 1446–1462 or 1469), who served as the sanjak-bey of the city following the conquest of Trabzon by the Ottoman Turks in 1461. Trabzon
Trabzon, historically known as Trebizond, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. Spono Eagles is a Swiss women's handball club from Nottwil founded in 1971. Reaching the Swiss Premium League in 1988, it has been a regular in EHF competitions since the 1990s, and it won three national championships between 2000 and 2006. Spono's best international results to date were reaching the Round of 16 of the EHF Cup and the Challenge Cup.
