Abdullah Yusuf Ali
Abdullah Yusuf Ali (; 14 April 1872 – 10 December 1953) was an Indian-British barrister who wrote a number of books about Islam, including an exegesis of the Qur'an. A supporter of the British war effort during World War I, Ali received the CBE in 1917 for his services to that cause. He died in London in 1953. Early life Ali was born in Bombay, British India, the son of Yusuf Ali Allahbuksh (died 1891), also known as Khan Bahadur Yusuf Ali. On his retirement, he gained the title Khan Bahadur for public service. As a child, Abdullah Yusuf Ali attended the Anjuman Himayat-ul-Islam school and later studied at the missionary school Wilson College, both in Bombay. He also received a religious education and eventually could recite the entire Qur'an from memory. He spoke both Arabic and English fluently. Mirza Muhammad Yusuf Ali
Mirza Muhammad Yusuf Ali (1858 – 30 May 1920) was a Bengali writer and reformer in British India. Early life Ali was born in 1858 to a Bengali Muslim family of Mirzas in the village of Aliabad in Rajshahi district, Bengal Presidency. After completing his studies at the Sreedharpur Bengali Middle School, he enrolled at the Rajshahi Normal School. He passed in quarterly examinations but was unable to continue studying, and so he passed his matriculation in 1887 as a private candidate instead of a regular candidate. In 1889, he could not pass the F.A. examination and did not continue his education. Apart from Bengali and English, Ali was self-taught in Arabic, Persian and Urdu. Career He began his career joining as a teacher in school of Cooch Behar. He was also teacher in Loknath School and Rangpur Government Normal School. He served as school-inspector and sub-registrar. Muhammad Yusuf Ali (1923 – December 1998) was a Bangladesh politician. He was the first minister for Education and Cultural Affairs in the first cabinet of Bangladesh. Early life and education Ali was born in Farakkabad, Biral Upazila, Biral, Dinajpur in 1923. He matriculated in 1944 from Dinajpur Academy High School and intermediate exams from Ripon College, Calcutta, Ripon College. He got a Bachelor of Arts degree from Surendranath College and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Dhaka in 1953. He later earned a B.Law degree from University of Rajshahi and joined the Dinajpur district bar. Career Ali was a professor of Nawabganj College and afterwards at Surendranath College. He joined East Pakistan Awami League in 1960 and in 1962 was elected to the East Pakistan Legislative Assembly. Yusufali Kechery (Yūsaphali Kēccēri; 16 May 1934 – 21 March 2015) was a poet, film lyricist, film producer and director from Kerala, India. He wrote during the modern era of Malayalam poetry and won the Odakkuzhal Award, the Kerala Sahitya Academy Award and the Vallathol Award. Career K. P. Narayana Pisharody was Kechery's Sanskrit teacher and taught him free of cost for four years. Yusuf Ali Kenadid
Yusuf Ali Kenadid (; 1837 – 14 August 1911) was a Somali Sultan and the founder of the Sultanate of Hobyo. He was succeeded to the throne by his son Ali Yusuf Kenadid. Family Yusuf Ali Kenadid was born into the Bah Yaaqub (part of the larger Bah Dirooble) branch of the Osman Mahamuud, Majeerteen Darod family. He is the father of Osman Yusuf Kenadid, who would go on to create the Osmanya writing script for the Somali language. Yusuf Ali's grandson, Yasin Osman Kenadid, would later help found the Society for Somali Language and Literature. Yusuf Ali Chowdhury
Yusuf Ali Chowdhury (1905 – 26 November 1971), commonly known as Mohan Mia, was a leading Muslim League politician from Bengal. He campaigned for Bengali Muslim civil rights in British India. Hailing from a prominent landowning clan of Faridpur, he was elected to the Bengal Legislative Assembly in 1937. He was a leader of the Pakistan movement and the Bengal Provincial Muslim League. Chowdhury became the first General Secretary of the Muslim League in East Bengal after the partition of India in 1947. He later joined the Krishak Praja Party led by A. K. Fazlul Huq. He supported the Bengali Language Movement in 1952.
