The Young Christian Democrats (, ''KDU'') is the youth organization of the Christian Democrats (Sweden), Christian Democrats in Sweden. KDU was founded at a conference in Sundsvall 1966. Initially the name of the organization was Christian Democratic Youth (''Kristen Demokratisk Ungdom'') but were later changed. Mats Odell
Mats Christer Johannes Odell (born 30 April 1947) is a Swedish politician (Christian Democrat). He served as Minister of Communications (Transport) from 1991 to 1994 and as Minister for Financial Markets from 2006 to 2010. Odell was chairman of the Young Christian Democrats 1975–1981. He is a member of the board of the Christian Democrats since 1988, MP since 1991, and the economics spokesman of the Christian Democrats 1994–2006. He was parliamentary group leader of his party from 2010 to 2012 and second vice chairman from 2004 to 2012. Aron Modig
Aron Modig (born 13 June 1985) is a Swedish politician who was chairman of the Young Christian Democrats, the youth wing of the Christian Democrats from 2011 to 2013. 2012 car crash In July 2012, he visited Cuba to show support for the nation's pro-democracy activists. On July 22, he was injured in a car crash while traveling with dissident and Sakharov Prize-winner Oswaldo Payá. Payá was killed at the scene. Details of the crash are disputed. Payá's daughter Rosa María stated that her father died after the rental car in which he was traveling was rammed several times by another car. Payá's son Oswaldo added that his father had received numerous death threats and agreed that his car had been deliberately driven off the road. Charlie Andreas Weimers (born 12 November 1982) is a Swedish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Sweden since 2019. He was re-elected in the 2024 European Parliament election in Sweden. He is a member of the Sweden Democrats, part of European Conservatives and Reformists. Ella Elin Nikolina Bohlin (born 1979) is a Christian Democratic politician in Sweden. Early life and education Bohlin was born in Jönköping. She has a B.A. in political science and has worked as a spinning instructor. Political career Bohlin was the leader of the Christian Democratic Youth League of Sweden between 2005 and 2008.
