You And Yours
''You and Yours'' is a British radio consumer affairs programme, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and produced by BBC News. History ''You and Yours'' began broadcasting in October 1970, when its first presenter was Joan York. In the 1980s it briefly ran seven days a week. In April 1998 it was increased from a 25-minute programme to 55 minutes. However, in 2014 the running time was reduced to approximately 40 minutes to make space for Radio 4's World War I drama ''Home Front'' which went out between 12.04 and 12.15. In the months when ''Home Front'' was not broadcast a different programme took its place and ''You and Yours'' continued to begin at 12.15. On 14 October 2008 there was a change of format, with two presenters being replaced by one. The breadth of topics covered was extended to global problems as well as those closer to home. BBC One
BBC One is a British free-to-air public broadcast television channel owned and operated by the BBC. It is the corporation's oldest and flagship channel, and is known for broadcasting mainstream programming, which includes BBC News television bulletins, primetime drama and entertainment, and live BBC Sport events. The channel was launched on 2 November 1936 under the name BBC Television Service, which was the world's first regular television service with a high level of image resolution. Watchdog (TV Series)
''Watchdog'' is a British consumer investigative journalism programme that was broadcast on BBC One from 14 July 1985 to 17 October 2019. The programme focused on investigating complaints and concerns made by viewers and consumers over problematic experiences with traders, retailers and other companies around the UK, over customer services, products, security, and possible fraudulent/criminal behaviour. Since it first began, the programme had achieved great success in changing the awareness consumers have of their purchasing rights, as well as pushing forward for changes in company policies and consumer laws, and in some cases helping to close down businesses whose practices have left many people dissatisfied and out of pocket. Derek Macdonald Cooper OBE (25 May 1925 – 19 April 2014) was a British journalist and broadcaster who wrote about food, wine and whisky. He was educated at Raynes Park High School, Raynes Park County Grammar School, Portree High School and Wadham College, Oxford, where he read English. After World War II service with the Royal Navy he was with Radio Malaya until 1960. Paul Heiney (born Paul Wisniewski, 20 April 1949) is a British radio broadcaster and television reporter. He is perhaps best known as a former presenter of ''That's Life!''. Susan Katriona MacGregor (born 30 August 1941) is a British broadcaster. She is best known as a former presenter of BBC Radio 4's ''Woman's Hour'' and later the ''Today'' programme. Early life MacGregor was born in Oxford. Her parents were Scottish and emigrated to South Africa where she was brought up. Winston Anthony John Waite (born 26 February 1951) is a presenter on British radio and occasionally television. He has worked at the BBC since 1973. Early life He was born in Stoke-on-Trent and raised in nearby Kidsgrove in Staffordshire. His father ran a corner shop. Ken Sykora
Ken Sykora (13 April 1923 – 7 March 2006), born Charles Kenneth Sykora, was an English jazz guitarist and radio presenter. Family life and education Sykora had two older sisters. He studied geography at the University of Cambridge, where he organized the Cambridge University Band Society. He then studied business and economics at the London School of Economics. War service, career and music During World War II, he was a military intelligence officer in East Asia. After the war, he taught in London at the London School of Economics and the College for Distributive Trades.
