Considered an early film noir, the film was the second directed by Lang in the United States. At least 15 minutes were trimmed from the original 100-minute version of the film due to its then unprecedented violence. Despite the removal of such scenes, the film is widely considered an early film noir classic. The film is also known for being one of the first box-office bombs. Plot Eddie Taylor is an ex-convict who feels he is reformed and deserves a break, but he has doubts that he will get one. Initially, his doubts seem unfounded as his life goes well; he is married to Joan (the woman who waited for him and who has always believed in him), her boss (Stephen the public defender) has helped him to get a steady job, and he has the wherewithal to buy a house with Joan. Man Lebt Nur Einmal!
Man lebt nur einmal! (, ''You Only Live Once!'') is a waltz by Johann Strauss II written in 1855. The piece was marked as ''im Ländlerstyle'' which in other words means "in the same style as the Ländler", which is an Austrian folk dance. The title was a quotation from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's 1774 play '' Clavigo'', but it raised a few eyebrows at that time as Vienna was just recovering from a disastrous cholera epidemic and many of the stricken populace may have been superstitious of such a title. Nonetheless, Strauss performed it at the Sperl Ballroom to great acclaim and this waltz has endured lasting appeal even in a simple string arrangement for a quintet consisting of two violins, one viola, one cello The violoncello ( , ), commonly abbreviated as cello ( ), is a middle pitched bowed (sometimes pizzicato, plucked and occasionally col legno, hit) string instrument of the violin family. You Only Live Once (video Game)
''You Only Live Once'' is a 2009 Flash platformer by game developer Marcus Richert, designed to be only playable once, not allowing the player another chance after dying in the game, even if it is restarted. It was a finalist at Sense of Wonder Night at the Tokyo Game Show 2009. It has together with '' One Chance'' been frequently cited in computer game academia as an example of the game mechanic permadeath. It has been also called a metagame and a "response" to '' Super Mario Bros.'' or an "affectionate parody of the tendency of video games to trivialise victims." Gameplay The game plays out like a typical platform game until the player either inadvertently dies or beats the game. Though there are a number of playable levels, all designed to be playable and fun, and a boss fight awaiting at the end of the game, most players won't make it that far. Hitting the "Continue" button after dying plays a sequence of humorous cutscenes dealing with the aftermath of the player's deat ...
