2017 Films
2017 in film is an overview of events, including the highest-grossing films, award ceremonies, festivals, a list of films released, and notable deaths. Evaluation of the year Richard Brody of '' The New Yorker'' observed that for 2017, "the most important event in the world of movies was the revelation, in ''The New York Times'' and ''The New Yorker'', of sexual abuse by Harvey Weinstein, and the resulting liberation of the long-stifled voices of the people who had been abused by him or other powerful figures in the movie business, and, for that matter, in other arts and industries, too." He emphasizes that in effect, " at's missing from the year-end list, and from the era in movies, isn't only the unmade work by these filmmakers but the artistry and the careers of cast and crew members who would have been in their unrealized films." Highest-grossing films The top films released in 2017 by worldwide gross are as follows: '' Star Wars: The Last Jedi'', '' Beauty and the ... Malaysia Film Festival
Malaysia Film Festival (FFM; ) is an annual awards ceremony organized by the ''Entertainment Journalists Association of Malaysia'' to honour excellence in Malaysian film. It is considered to be Malaysia's own equivalent to the Academy Awards and it is one of the major entertainment awards presented in Malaysia, alongside the Anugerah Bintang Popular for the entire entertainment industry (similar to the Anugerah Skrin) and Anugerah Industri Muzik for the music industry. The events used to be hosted by the ''Persatuan-Persatuan Kebudayaan'' mainly in Singapore to recognise excellence in the film industry especially Malay films. Upon the establishment of the Entertainment Journalists Association of Malaysia, FFM was appropriately schemed and outlined in a way to help and oversee the progress of Malaysia's own Malay films, in which their production and direction by the Malaysian people itself would be able to compete with those of international films brought into the nation. Theme Song
Theme music is a musical composition which is often written specifically for radio programming, television shows, video games, or films and is usually played during the title sequence, opening credits, closing credits, and in some instances at some point during the program. The purpose of a theme song is often similar to that of a leitmotif. The phrase theme song or signature tune may also be used to refer to a signature song that has become especially associated with a particular performer or dignitary, often used as they make an entrance. Purpose From the 1950s onwards, theme music, and especially theme songs also became a valuable source of additional revenue for Hollywood film studios, many of which launched their own recording arms. This period saw the beginning of more methodical cross-promotion of music and movies. One of the first big successes, which proved very influential, was the theme song for ''High Noon'' (1952). Stage Play
A play is a form of drama that primarily consists of dialogue between characters and is intended for theatrical performance rather than mere reading. The creator of a play is known as a playwright. Plays are staged at various levels, ranging from London's West End and New York City's Broadway – the highest echelons of commercial theatre in the English-speaking world – to regional theatre, community theatre, and academic productions at universities and schools. A stage play is specifically crafted for performance on stage, distinct from works meant for broadcast or cinematic adaptation. They are presented on a stage before a live audience. Some dramatists, notably George Bernard Shaw, have shown little preference for whether their plays are performed or read. The term "play" encompasses the written texts of playwrights and their complete theatrical renditions. Comedy Comedies are plays designed to elicit humor and often feature witty dialogue, eccentric characters, a ...
