You're the Greatest LUVer is a German 1998 compilation album by Dutch girl group Luv' which features hit singles and album tracks from the formation's heyday (1977–1981). As the female pop trio dominated the charts in a large part of Continental Europe in the late 1970s, Germany was Luv's biggest export market. They had eight entries on the German singles charts: "You're the Greatest Lover" (a #1 hit that reached the gold status as it sold 600.000 units in Germany alone), "Trojan Horse" ( a Top 3 song), "Casanova" (a Top 10 single), " Eeny Meeny Miny Moe", "Ooh, Yes I Do", " Ann-Maria", "One More Little Kissie" and "My Number One". Luv'
Luv' were a Dutch girl group that scored a string of hit records in Continental Europe (Benelux, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Denmark, Norway and Finland) as well as Israel, South Africa, Rhodesia, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Argentina and Mexico in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The original members were Patty Brard, José Hoebee and Marga Scheide. In 1979, Luv' was 'Holland's best export act' and thus received the ' Conamus Export Prize'. The band sold more than seven million records worldwide (singles and albums). Among their greatest hits were: " U.O.Me (Welcome to Waldolala)", "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse", "Casanova" and "Ooh, Yes I Do". Trojan Horse (Luv' Song)
"Trojan Horse" is the fifth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in autumn 1978 by Philips/ Phonogram Records. This million-seller appears on some editions of the group's debut album, With Luv' (1978), and was a successful hit record in a large part of continental Europe, Israel, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Argentina and New Zealand. It was a minor hit in Australia and Canada. The single was remixed in 2006, 2015 and 2022. Background This song is the follow-up single to " You're the Greatest Lover" and uses a bagpipe theme. The intro of this track was inspired by the famous "20th-Century Fox Fanfare" by Alfred Newman that accompanies the 20th Century Fox studio logo at the beginning of its productions. Thanks to this hit record, Luv' established itself as one of the most popular Dutch pop acts of the late 1970s. ''Starparade'' was a West German music television programme, which aired on ZDF from March 14, 1968, to June 5, 1980, and was hosted by , along with James Last and his orchestra who founded his world-wide success on the show. History ''Starparade'' was an elaborate music show which was filmed in different venues across Germany. Each show was broadcast for approximately 90 minutes and showcased music and short interviews with the artists. The inclusion of international acts, and acts more local to Germany, reflected the international reach of the programme that was sold to various broadcasters outside of Germany. Initially, ''Starparade'' was scheduled for Saturday night, but was later moved to Thursday. Buma Export Award
The Buma Export Award (initially known as Conamus Export Award) was a prize given to the Dutch artists who sold the most records abroad between 1972 and 2011. In 2013, this prize was replaced by the Buma ROCKS! Export Award that focused on rock artists and the Buma Award Internationaal (that has been awarded to the best-selling and most played songs involving Dutch recording artists, songwriters and publishers with international success). The latter award is presented yearly during the Buma Awards ceremony. Background The awards were first presented in 1972. Pieter Cornelis "Piet" Souer (born 29 March 1948, Eindhoven) is a Dutch record producer, songwriter and arranger. His collaboration with acts (such as Luv', Mouth & MacNeal, Liesbeth List, Ramses Shaffy, American Gypsy, and Champagne) made him gain twenty two gold and platinum records', one Conamus Export Prize and one 'Outstanding Song Award', thanks to his composition "Too Young To Know", performed by Anita Meyer at World Popular Song Festival in Japan in 1981. Debut Piet Souer (a guitar and keyboard player) started his career as a member of The Valiants, a rock band from Eindhoven. His breakthrough happened when he played guitar on " De troubadour", a track performed by Lenny Kuhr, winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1969. Margareth "Marga" Scheide (born 15 February 1954 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) is a Dutch singer and former model. She was a member of the girl group Luv'. Alongside Patty Brard and José Hoebee, she scored a string of international hit songs such as "You're the Greatest Lover", "Trojan Horse", "Casanova" and " Ooh, Yes I Do". She was the only Luv' singer to be involved in all the incarnations of the group. The formation went through line-up changes and the original singers reunited several times. In 2016, Marga, José and Ria Thielsch (who already replaced Patty in 1980) decided to relaunch Luv'. In July 2017, the ladies celebrated their 40th anniversary. José Hoebee
Josina van de Wijdeven (born 29 March 1954), known as José Hoebee, is a Dutch pop singer. She was a member of Luv', a famous Dutch girl group in the late 1970s and early 1980s that scored hits in more than 15 countries. In late 1981, she went solo and was successful in her homeland and in the Flanders region of Belgium between 1982 and 1985. She formed a duo known as Bonnie & José with Bonnie St. Claire to record Dutch cover versions of ABBA's songs. Luv' went through line-up changes and reunited several times. On 7 February 2020 the group's management announced that Luv' would stop all their activities due to José's ill health. "My Number One" is the twelfth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in the autumn of 1980 by CNR/Carrere Records. The song appears on the Forever Yours album and was a chart success in Benelux and a minor hit in Germany. "My Number One" served as the official introduction to the public and the media of Luv's new member, Ria Thielsch (who replaced Patty Brard). "One More Little Kissie" (also credited as "One More Little Kissy") is the eleventh single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in May 1980 by CNR/ Carrere Records. This song appears on the 1980 reissue of the True Luv' album and the Forever Yours LP. It was the last single featuring Patty Brard who left Luv' a couple of months after its release. Background Even if Ooh, Yes I Do and Ann-Maria were successful, their sales didn't reach those of You're the Greatest Lover and Trojan Horse. Luv' recorded a pop track containing exotica and bubblegum pop elements: One More Little Kissy, hoping to have bigger success. However, this song did not achieve the desired results. Moreover, due to intern conflicts, Patty Brard decided to leave Luv' in August 1980 as the group was promoting the single. Ann-Maria (song)
"Ann-Maria" is the tenth single by the Dutch girl group Luv', released in early 1980 by Carrere Records. This song appears on the formation's third studio album True Luv'. This downtempo composition entered the record charts in Benelux and Germany. Background When Luv' left Philips/Phonogram Records for CNR/Carrere Records in 1979, the trio hoped that its success story would go on. The single Ooh, Yes I Do became successful (even if it didn't reach the results of the million-sellers You're the Greatest Lover or Trojan Horse). The ballad Ann Maria was chosen as a follow-up single and used a Latin American orchestration inspired by ABBA's Chiquitita and Fernando as well as Boney M.'s El Lute.
