Yam is the common name for some plant species in the genus ''Dioscorea'' (family Dioscoreaceae) that form edible tubers (some other species in the genus being toxic). The Yam-Alin () is a mountain range in Amur Oblast and Khabarovsk Krai, Russian Far East.Google Earth The range is part of the Ezop/Yam-Alin volcanic zone. History The range is located in a remote area and was unexplored until mid 19th century. Between 1849 and 1853, a large Russian military expedition led by Nikolai Khristoforovich Akhte operated in the Russian Far East. The German surveyor of the Russian service Ludwig Schwarz was assigned to it as an astronomer. The Yellowstone Art Museum (YAM) in downtown Billings, Montana, United States is the largest contemporary art museum in Montana. History and mission The Yellowstone Art Center (now the Yellowstone Art Museum, or YAM) opened in October 1964 in the former Yellowstone County Jail. The construction of the county jail in 1884 was the first act of the newly instituted Yellowstone County government. It began as a small red brick structure. The ''yam'' or ''jam'' (), also called the ''örtöö'' (), was a Mongol postal system or supply point route messenger system. It was extensively used and expanded by Ögedei Khan and also used by subsequent great khans and khans. Relay stations provided food, shelter and spare horses for Mongol army messengers. Ögedei Khan gave special attention to the ''yam'' because Mongol armies travelled quickly; their messengers had to be even faster, and they covered per day. Yam (sometimes Yamm; ; “sea”) was a god representing the sea and other sources of water worshiped in various locations on the eastern Mediterranean coast, as well as further inland in modern Syria. He is best known from the Ugaritic texts. While he was a minor deity in Ugaritic religion, he is nonetheless attested as a recipient of offerings, and a number of theophoric names invoking him have been identified. Yam Madar (; born ) is an Israeli professional basketball player for Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Ligat HaAl and the EuroLeague. He also represents the Israel senior national team internationally. He joined Hapoel Tel Aviv of the Israeli Premier League in 2018. He debuted for their senior team in 2018, at age 17, becoming one of the youngest players in club history.
