''Xerrox Vol.3'' is the eighth solo studio album by German electronic artist Alva Noto. The record was released on 31 March 2015 via Raster-Noton label, continuing his ''Xerrox'' pentalogy. Background The two previous albums in the series are: '' Xerrox Vol.1'' (2007) and ''Xerrox Vol.2'' (2009). In a statement, the author described the album as a "cinematographic emotion of a soundtrack to a film that actually does not exist in reality." It was inspired by childhood memories of the '70s films '' Solaris'', directed by Andrei Tarkovsky in 1972, and ''La isla misteriosa y el capitán Nemo'', directed by Juan Antonio Bardem and Henri Colpi in 1973. Alva Noto
Carsten Nicolai (18 September 1965), also known as Alva Noto, is a German musician and visual artist. He is a member of the music groups Diamond Version with Olaf Bender (Byetone), Signal with Frank Bretschneider and Olaf Bender, Cyclo with Ryoji Ikeda, ANBB with Blixa Bargeld, ALPHABET with Anne-James Chaton, Opto with Thomas Knak, and Alva Noto + Ryuichi Sakamoto with whom he composed the score for the 2015 film '' The Revenant''. Life and career Carsten Nicolai was born in Karl-Marx-Stadt (now Chemnitz) of Saxony, GDR in 1965. He studied architecture and landscape design before pursuing art. In 1994 he founded the label NOTON, following which a collaboration with RasterMusic began and by 1999 the two labels had merged into Raster-Noton, which operated until 2017. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands. Henri Colpi (; 15 July 1921 – 14 January 2006) was a French film editor and film director. Early life Colpi graduated from the IDHEC in 1947. During 1950 to 1960, he edited films for such notable French New Wave directors as Agnès Varda and Georges Franju. Career Colpi directed the 1961 film '' Une aussi longue absence'', which is well known for sharing the Palme d'Or at the 1961 Cannes Film Festival with '' Viridiana'', directed by Luis Buñuel. ''Une aussi longue absence'' was written by Marguerite Duras, featured Alida Valli in a major role, and included music by Georges Delerue. It also won the Louis Delluc Prize in 1960. His second feature '' Codine'' was also screening in competition at the 1963 Cannes Film Festival, where Colpi won the prize for Best Screenplay. Juan Antonio Bardem Muñoz (2 June 1922 – 30 October 2002) was a Spanish film director and screen writer, born in Madrid. He was a member of the Communist Party. Bardem was best known for '' Muerte de un ciclista'' (1955) which won the FIPRESCI Prize at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival, and '' El puente'' (1977) which won the Golden Prize at the 10th Moscow International Film Festival. His 1979 film '' Seven Days in January'' won the Golden Prize at the 11th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1981 he was a member of the jury at the 12th Moscow International Film Festival. In 1993 he was a member of the jury at the 43rd Berlin International Film Festival. In 1953 he and Luis García Berlanga founded a film magazine, ''Objetivo'', which existed until 1956.
