Elias Magnus Fries
Elias Magnus Fries (15 August 1794 – 8 February 1878) was a Swedish mycologist and botanist. He is sometimes called the Mycology, "Linnaeus of Mycology". In his works he described and assigned botanical names to hundreds of fungus and lichen species, many of which remain authoritative today. Career Fries was born at Femsjö (Hylte Municipality), Småland, the son of the pastor there. He attended school in Växjö. He acquired an extensive knowledge of flowering plants from his father. In 1811 Fries entered Lund University where he studied under Carl Adolph Agardh and Anders Jahan Retzius. He obtained his doctorate in 1814. In the same year he was appointed an associate professorship in botany. Fries edited several exsiccata series, the first starting in 1818 under the title ''Lichenes Sveciae exsiccati, curante Elia Fries'' and the last together with Franz Joseph Lagger under the title ''Hieracia europaea exsiccata''. He was elected a member of the Royal Swedish Academ ...

Xanthoria Whinrayi
''Jackelixia whinrayi'' is a lichen in the family Teloschistaceae. It was first described in 2007 by Sergey Kondratyuk and Ingvar Kärnefelt as ''Xanthoria whinrayi'', but was transferred to the genus ''Jackelixia'' in 2009 by Kondratyuk, Natalya M. Fedorenko, Soili Kristina Stenroos, Kärnefelt, and Arne Thell. The name accepted at ''Index Fungorum'' is ''Xanthoria whinrayi,'' while ''Jackelixia whinrayi'' is the name accepted by AusLichen and by Mycobank. ''Xanthoria ulophyllodes'' is a species of mostly saxicolous (corticolous-dwelling) lichen in the family Teloschistaceae. It was formally described as a new species in 1931 by Finnish lichenologist Veli Räsänen. Xanthoria Kangarooensis
''Xanthoria kangarooensis'' is a species of corticolous (bark-dwelling), crustose lichen in the family Teloschistaceae. Found in Australia, it was formally described as a new species in 2009 by lichenologists Sergey Kondratyuk and Ingvar Kärnefelt. The type specimen was collected from East Kangaroo Island (Furneaux Group, Bass Strait), where it was found growing on dead ''Lycium ferocissimum'' shrubs. Other associated lichens include species of ''Pyxine'', ''Ramalina'', and '' Rinodina''. The species epithet ''kangarooensis'' refers to its type locality, the only place the lichen is known to occur. Kondratyuk and colleagues proposed to transfer the taxon to the newly circumscribed ''Jackelixia ''Dufourea'' is a genus of mostly foliose lichen species in the subfamily Xanthorioideae of the family Teloschistaceae.
