In 2000, now with drummer Gas Lipstick, Mika "Gas Lipstick" Karppinen and keyboardist Juska Salminen, the band released ''Razorblade Romance'', which reached the number one spot in Finland, Austria and Germany. Love In Theory And Practice
Love is a feeling of strong attraction and emotional attachment to a person, animal, or thing. It is expressed in many forms, encompassing a range of strong and positive emotional and mental states, from the most sublime virtue or good habit, or the deepest interpersonal affection, to the simplest pleasure. An example of this range of meanings is that the love of a mother differs from the love of a spouse, which differs from the love of food. Love is considered to be both positive and negative, with its virtue representing kindness, compassion, and affection—"the unselfish, loyal, and benevolent concern for the good of another"—and its vice representing a moral flaw akin to vanity, selfishness, amour-propre, and egotism. It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans, oneself, or animals. In its various forms, love acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships, and owing to its central psychological importance, is one of th ...

On the 11 May 2006 episode of ''Loveline'', lead vocalist Ville Valo confirmed that the song was inspired by skateboarder Brandon Novak, who blamed his heroin addiction on a need to, as he put it, "kill the loneliness". The song is playable in the 2010 video game ''Rock Band 3''. Wicked Game
"Wicked Game" is a song by American rock musician Chris Isaak from his third album '' Heart Shaped World'' (1989). It was released as a single to little attention in July 1989 but became a sleeper hit when Lee Chestnut, an Atlanta radio station music director who loved David Lynch films, began broadcasting it after hearing it in Lynch's film '' Wild at Heart'' (1990). The song quickly became an American top 10 hit in March 1991, reaching No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It also became a No. 1 hit in Belgium and reached the top 10 in several other countries. "Wicked Game" has been covered by a wide variety of musicians and has been featured in numerous films, television series, and commercials, to the point that ''Dazed'' magazine questioned whether it might be the most influential love song in modern music. It subsequently received retrospective critical acclaim, being listed in the 2010 book ''1001 Songs You Must Hear Before You Die'' and the updated edition of the 1989 book ...

Deep Shadows And Brilliant Highlights
''Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights'' is the third studio album by Finnish gothic rock band HIM, released 27 August 2001. The album was produced by Kevin Shirley, T. T. Oksala and HIM. The record had a troubled production, which lasted approximately eleven months. The prolonged recording process was partially due outside influences within the music industry hoping to repeat the success of HIM's previous album. As a result, ''Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights'' features a sleeker and more pop-oriented sound. It is the first HIM album to feature keyboardist Janne "Burton" Puurtinen. ''Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights'' received mixed reviews from music critics. While some gave praise to the songwriting and Ville Valo's vocal performance, most were highly critical of the production and overall commercial sound. Despite this, ''Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights'' charted in seven countries, peaking at number one in Finland and Austria. It would later go platinum a ...

Love Metal
''Love Metal'' is the fourth studio album by Finnish gothic rock band HIM. Released on 11 April 2003, HIM began recording demos for the album in northern spring 2002, after an exhausting touring cycle for their previous album, which nearly broke the band up. Excited and invigorated by the new material, HIM entered Finnvox Studios in September 2002 with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa, who had previously helmed the group's 1997 debut album. Musically ''Love Metal'' featured a more raw and organic sound, inspired by the band's early influences, which was also seen as a reaction to the difficulties they faced while recording their previous album. Vocalist Ville Valo has since described ''Love Metal'' as the album where HIM found their sound. ''Love Metal'' was also the band's first album to predominantly feature their logo, the Heartagram, on the cover, while the album's title was coined in the mid-nineties as a description for HIM's musical genre. ''Love Metal'' received positive revi ...

Venus Doom
''Venus Doom'' is the sixth studio album by Finnish gothic rock band HIM. The album was recorded at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki with producers Hiili Hiilesmaa and Tim Palmer, both whom had collaborated with the band on various occasions, and released on 14 September 2007. During the making of ''Venus Doom'', HIM was struggling with the personal problems of their vocalist Ville Valo. Among other things, his alcohol abuse had worsened to the point that he suffered a nervous breakdown during the recording process, after which he was admitted to the Promises Rehabilitation Clinic in Malibu by HIM's manager Seppo Vesterinen. Musically the album has been described as HIM's heaviest and darkest album to date, with influences from bands such as My Dying Bride, Anathema and Paradise Lost. Much of the album's lyrical themes and heaviness were inspired by Valo's personal difficulties, including his break-up with fiancé Jonna Nygrén. ''Venus Doom'' received positive reviews from criti ...
