XHGZ-FM (Durango)
XHGZ-FM is a radio station in Gómez Palacio, Durango on 99.5 FM. It is owned by Radiorama and operated by GPS Media as El Viejón with a grupera format. History XHGZ began in 1957 as XEGZ-AM 790, licensed to Ciudad Lerdo and owned by Alejandro Stevenson. Formats over the years included La Pantera, Radio 790 and Rockola 790. The station received permission to migrate to FM in 2011. On AM, Radiorama placed some of its own formats on 790, such as W Radio and Colorín ColorRadio; when the station migrated, it took on the Milenio Radio format of news-talk programming. In March 2018, XHGZ converted to La Lupe, a new grupera classic hits format from Multimedios. In 2019, Multimedios Radio took control of the FM station of the Grupo Radio Centro Torreón cluster; La Lupe moved to XHETOR-FM, the 99.9 frequency. Gómez Palacio is a city and its surrounding municipality in northeastern Durango, Mexico, adjacent to the border of the state of Coahuila. Comarca Lagunera
The Comarca Lagunera or La Comarca de la Laguna ("region of lagoons") is a region of northern Mexico occupying large portions of the states of Durango and Coahuila, with rich soils produced by periodic flooding of the Nazas and Aguanaval rivers. Neither river drains into either the Pacific Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico, but rather they created a series of inland lakes. The region was developed for large-scale irrigated cotton agriculture. During the Mexican Revolution, the region was the site of fierce fighting. Following the military phase of the Revolution, the region was part of the agrarian reform under President Lázaro Cárdenas. The dam named for Cárdenas now controls flooding of the rivers, but the groundwater resources are no longer recharged as a result. It is the 8th largest metropolitan area in Mexico. Grupo Radiorama is the largest owner and operator of radio stations in Mexico. Founded in 1970, the company operated nearly 400 radio stations in 2014. History Radiorama was founded on December 9, 1970, by Javier Pérez de Anda and Adrián Pereda López. Ciudad Lerdo (Lerdo City) is a small city in the northeastern portion of the Mexican state of Durango. It serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. It is located at co-ordinates 25.33° N, 103.31° W, bordering southeastern Coahuila. As of 2010, the city of Lerdo had a population of 79,669, up from 71,373 people as of 2005. Grupo Radio Centro is a Mexico City-based owner and operator of radio stations. It owns 30 radio stations in Mexico and the United States, including 8 radio stations in Mexico City. History Radio Centro's origins date to 1946, when Francisco Aguirre Jiménez formed the Cadena Radio Continental to operate XEQR-AM 1030 and new station XERC-AM 790 in Mexico City. Organización Radio Centro was formed in 1952, and the current company was founded in 1971. XHETOR-FM
XHETOR-FM is a radio station on 99.9 FM in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico. The station is owned by Multimedios Radio with the latter's La Lupe variety hits format. History XETOR-AM 670 received its concession on May 14, 1966, broadcasting from Matamoros, Coahuila. It was owned by La Voz de Coahuila, S.A. and broadcast as a 1 kW daytimer. In 1997, it was sold to Publicidad Radiofónica de la Laguna, which began operating the station at night. In 2011, it migrated to FM on 107.5 MHz. XHDN-FM is a radio station on 101.1 FM in Gómez Palacio, Durango, Mexico. The station is owned by Grupo Radiorama, operated by GPS Media and known as Wow. History XHDN began as XEDN-AM. Its concession was awarded on November 21, 1942, and it broadcast on 600 kHz. It originally was owned by José Bertiz, but it soon became part of Radio Programas de México. In 1958, Luis de la Rosa took ownership of the station; de la Rosa had been the first president of the Mexican Association of Radio Stations, the predecessor to CIRT, in 1937. In 1970, Grupo ACIR acquired XEDN, and in 1982 it became part of Radiorama. XEDN migrated in 2011 to FM on 101.1 MHz.
