X9 (New York City Bus)
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) operates 80 express bus routes in New York City, United States. Generally, express routes operated by MTA Bus Company are assigned multi-borough (BM, BxM, QM, SIM) prefixes. Exceptions to this rule are 7 Brooklyn and Queens express routes operated by MTA New York City Transit. Those routes use an X prefix. The unidirectional fare, payable with MetroCard (New York City), MetroCard or OMNY, a contactless payment system which will replace the Metrocard by 2023, is $6.75. Discount New York City transit fares, fare media is available. Except for the ad hoc X80 service, coins are not accepted on express buses; only a MetroCard (for now) or OMNY is accepted. X-9 Shrike
The Bell X-9 Shrike was a prototype surface-to-air, liquid-fueled guided missile designed by Bell Aircraft as a testbed for the nuclear-armed GAM-63 RASCAL. It is named after the shrike, a family of birds. Testing Thirty-one X-9 rockets were delivered, flying from April 1949 to January 1953. The program was used to gather aerodynamic and stability data, and to test guidance and propulsion systems for the RASCAL. None of the missiles survived testing. The only known remaining fragment of an X-9 is part of a vertical stabilizer, at the Larry Bell Museum in Mentone, Indiana. It operates mainly charter flights within Ukraine, and also offers flights to Europe and the Middle East from Kyiv International Airport. ''Secret Agent X-9'' is a comic strip created by writer Dashiell Hammett ('' The Maltese Falcon'') and artist Alex Raymond (''Flash Gordon''). Syndicated by King Features, it ran from January 22, 1934 until February 10, 1996. Premise and publication history X-9 was a nameless agent who worked for a nameless agency. X-9 used the name "Dexter" in the first story ("It's not my name, but it'll do") and kept using it or being called by it in later stories, but acquired the name "Phil Corrigan" in the 1940s. Decades later, the strip was renamed ''Secret Agent Corrigan''. The nameless agency was also specifically identified as the FBI, but this would be downplayed in the '70s as the Bureau weathered bad publicity and was once more nameless.
