Ben Peterson (wrestler)
Benjamin Lee Peterson (born June 27, 1950) is a retired American freestyle wrestler. He competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics and won a gold and a silver medal, respectively. As a college wrestler, Peterson was a two-time NCAA champion at Iowa State. He founded the "Camp of Champs," which brought in Olympic wrestlers to train with high schoolers. Peterson also coached wrestling at Maranatha Baptist University for 28 years. Early life Peterson was born in Barron County, Wisconsin but grew up on a dairy farm in nearby Comstock. While attending Cumberland High School, Peterson competed in both football and wrestling. As a senior, he finished runner-up at the state wrestling tournament. College career Peterson continued his wrestling career at Iowa State University where he competed in the 190 pound weight class and studied architecture. John Allan Peterson (born October 22, 1948) is an American former wrestler and Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling. Wrestling career Peterson grew up in Comstock, Wisconsin, attending nearby Cumberland High School before graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1971. Stanley Joseph Dziedzic Jr. (born November 5, 1949) is an American former welterweight freestyle wrestler. High school Dziedzic attended high school at William Allen High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Collegiate and amateur career He was a 1972 graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, where his collegiate record of 118 victories and only two defeats served as Dziedzic's springboard to international achievements in the sport. Dziedzic won three NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships while at Slippery Rock in 1970, 1971, and 1972, three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference titles, and an NCAA Division I title as a junior in 1971. Lloyd Weldon Keaser (born February 9, 1950) is an American former wrestler who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics for the United States in freestyle wrestling. In 1973, he won a gold medal at the World Championships and became the first African American to achieve this honor. Wrestling career Keaser was born in Pumphrey, Maryland.
