The legal position of women in Austria has improved since the mid-1970s. With regard to women's rights, the priority in Austria is based on the equal treatment of both genders, rather than having equal rights only. Legally, women in Andorra have equal rights under the laws of the Principality of Andorra. Voting rights were extended to women in 1970, and a majority of the General Council are female.
