The Witwatersrand University women's football club, also known as Wits Ladies F.C. or Wits University Ladies, is the football club representing the University of the Witwatersrand based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. The senior team competes in the Sasol Women's League, the second tier women's football league in South Africa. History In 2017, they won the Johannesburg Regional Women's League. The win granted them entry into the 2017 SAFA Gauteng Regional Women's Championship. Only the top two sides at the championship advance to Gauteng stream of the second tier Sasol Women's League. Wits Ladies finished third missing out on second place on goal difference after being tied with Rosina Sedibane. In 2019 they finished in third place at the USSA championship and qualified for the Women's Varsity Football tournament. Sasol Women's League
The Sasol Women's League is the second-tier South African women's association football league, sponsored by Sasol since 2013. It is semi-professional, and operates as a provincial league, with two "streams" of 8-10 teams in each of South Africa's nine provinces (in some cases, multiple streams per province), and each province's champion then competing in a single-location National Championship tournament. The championship's two finalists are then promoted to the (professional, first-tier) SAFA Women's League, while the bottom two teams in each province's standings are relegated to the SAFA Women's Regional League of their respective province. Jabulile Baloyi
Jabulile Baloyi is a South African former player and professional soccer manager who is the current head coach of Sasol Women's League side the University of the Free State. In 2018 she led University of Johannesburg to the USSA title and defended it in 2019. Career Baloyi competed for South Africa in the 2002 African Women's Championship qualifiers. The 2024 Pirates Cup (Women) was the second edition of the women's soccer tournament hosted by Orlando Pirates. The tournament was hosted at Wits Marks Park Sports Grounds in Emmarentia from 28 March 2024 - 1 April 2024. UP-Tuks Ladies were defending champions.
