Winslow Railway Station
Winslow railway station refers to either one of two railway stations which historically served or is planned to serve, the town of Winslow, Buckinghamshire, Winslow in north Buckinghamshire, England. The original station (18501985) was on the former Varsity Line between and . Since October 2024, construction of a new station is complete and is scheduled to be served by East West Rail, as part of the plan to reinstate the OxfordCambridge service. In March 2025, Chiltern Railways announced that it had been appointed to operate passenger services on the EWR line between Oxford and (via , , Winslow and ). Chiltern expects the service to become operational in late 2025. Winslow is a market town and civil parish in north Buckinghamshire, England, within the Buckinghamshire Council unitary authority area. It has a population of just over 4,400. It is located approximately south-east of Buckingham, and south-west of Bletchley (Milton Keynes). History Winslow was first recorded in a royal charter of 792–793 in which it was granted by Offa of Mercia to St Albans Abbey as ''Wineshauue'', which means 'Wine's Burial Mound'. Compare , 'low hill, mound'. The Domesday Book of 1086 records it as ''Weneslai''. A late Celtic copper torc has been found here, and also a silver drinking-cup of late Roman design. Edward Bury
Edward Bury (22 October 1794 – 25 November 1858) was an English locomotive manufacturer. Born in Salford, Lancashire, he was the son of a timber merchant and was educated at Chester. Career By 1823 he was a partner in Gregson and Bury's steam sawmill at Toxteth Park, Liverpool, but in 1826 he set himself up as an iron-founder and engineer. His original premises were in Tabley Street near the Liverpool and Manchester Railway's (LMR) workshops.
