It is awarded annually during the National Rifle & Pistol Matches which are held at Camp Perry, Ohio and has become the most prestigious prize in US long-range rifle shooting. Each year the high-power phase of these matches traditionally takes place during the first two weeks of August. The Wimbledon Cup is awarded for the winner of a 1000-yard shooting match — in which the rules permit use of "any sight", including telescopes. Concurrent with the Wimbledon, service rifle shooters compete for the Farr Trophy, and Palma rifle shooters vie for the "Doc" Aiken Trophy. History The Wimbledon Cup is a silver tankard wrought by British silversmiths of the Victorian period. The British National Rifle Association inaugurated the prize in 1866. Falklands Islands Rifle Association
The Falkland Islands Rifle Association(FIRA) is the governing body for Fullbore target rifle shooting on the Falkland Islands. The Association has been in existence since 1885. FIRA is a member of the Falklands National Sports Council, which sends teams to the Commonwealth Games. They are also a member of the International Confederation of Fullbore Rifle Associations, who organise the Fullbore Rifle World Championships. History Shooting matches were held with personnel from visiting British warships from 1888 to 1979 fairly regularly. During the period 1888 to 1955 the club won 40 matches and the visiting ships four. Records of the club's history from 1955 to 1973 were lost during the Falklands War in 1982. After the war, shooting was suspended until a new range was provided at Rookery Bay in 1990. World Croquet Federation
The World Croquet Federation (WCF) is the world governing body for croquet. Its primary objective is to make the various codes of the game "well-known, well-understood, well-respected and well-supported sports in countries throughout the world". To that end, it encourages, promotes and develops Golf Croquet and Association Croquet internationally at all levels. The WCF sanctions various croquet tournaments for both individuals and national teams, held worldwide, maintains world rankings for individuals and nations, and governs changes to the laws of Association Croquet and the rules of Golf Croquet.
