''Where the Pyramid Meets the Eye'' is a 1990 tribute album to singer-songwriter Roky Erickson, founder of the 13th Floor Elevators and solo artist, whose career was subject to significant periods of challenge from schizophrenia. The album was released by Sire Records in the United States, and by WEA International in Europe. The album was produced by Bill Bentley, who also produced a 1999 tribute album to Moby Grape co-founder Skip Spence, who, like Erickson, was subject to the challenges of schizophrenia. The album's title is said to be Erickson's definition of psychedelic music. The album was produced with the intention of raising money for Erickson and exposing his music to a wider audience. In 2017, 2000 copies of a two-LP edition of the album were released exclusively for Record Store Day 2017, which marked its first appearance on vinyl. Poi Dog Pondering
Poi Dog Pondering is an American musical group which is noted for its cross-pollination of diverse musical genres, including various forms of acoustic and electronic music. Frank Orrall founded the band in Hawaii in 1984, initially as a solo project. In 1985 Orrall formed the first line-up of PDP to perform its first concert; at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. The band embarked on a yearlong street performance busking tour across North America. They eventually settled down in Austin, Texas in 1987, where they recorded their first three albums. In 1992, the band relocated to Chicago and they began to incorporate orchestral arrangements and elements of electronic, house music, and soul music into their acoustic rock style. Wesley Stace (born 22 October 1965) is an English folk/pop singer-songwriter and author, who has used the stage name John Wesley Harding. Under his legal name, he has written four novels. ''The Evil One'' is a 1981 solo debut album by American psychedelic rock singer Roky Erickson, after his time with the band 13th Floor Elevators. The songs were recorded in 1979 with producer Stu Cook, former bass player of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Some material from those sessions was also released on the 1980 CBS UK album ''Roky Erickson and the Aliens'', later reissued as ''I Think of Demons''. Cook played bass on two tracks, "Sputnik" and "Bloody Hammer." The album was re-released on April 16, 2002 by Austin, Texas record label Sympathy for the Record Industry as a double-CD titled ''The Evil One (Plus One)''. The second disc is made up of a 48-minute appearance from August 20, 1979 on California radio station KSJO's ''The Modern Humans Show,'' on which Erickson plays rough mixes from the album and talks about music and horror films. Southern Pacific was an American country rock band that existed from 1983 to 1991. They are best known for hits such as "Any Way the Wind Blows" (1989), which was used in the soundtrack for the film '' Pink Cadillac'' starring Clint Eastwood and Bernadette Peters, and "New Shade of Blue" (1988, their highest-ranking single on the country charts in November of that year). Stuart Alden Cook (born April 25, 1945) is an American bass guitarist, best known for his work in the rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), for which he is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Career Cook, along with Doug Clifford and brothers Tom and John Fogerty, grew up in El Cerrito, California, where all four attended El Cerrito High School. Cook, Clifford and John Fogerty formed a band in high school which eventually became Creedence Clearwater Revival after Tom joined.
