"What You're Proposing" is a single released by the British rock band Status Quo in 1980. It was included on their album '' Just Supposin'''. The B-side is "A B Blues", a non-album instrumental studio jam. Some later pressings of this single mis-credited Andy Bown as Andy Brown on the B-side composer's credit. The initial pressing run of 75,000 copies of this single were issued with a colour picture sleeve. The song was reprised, in 2014, for the band's thirty-first studio album '' Aquostic (Stripped Bare)''. Status Quo (band)
Status Quo are a British rock band. The group originated in London and was founded in 1962 by Francis Rossi and Alan Lancaster while they were still schoolboys. After a number of name and lineup changes, which included the introduction of John Coghlan (drummer), John Coghlan in 1963 and Rick Parfitt in 1967, the band became The Status Quo in 1967 and Status Quo in 1969. As of 2022, the group have been active for 60 consecutive years (despite announcing a breakup in 1984, they played Live Aid the following year and resumed normal activities in 1986). They have had over 60 chart hits in the UK – more than any other band – including "Pictures of Matchstick Men" (their first charting song), "Caroline (Status Quo song), Caroline" (their first top 5 hit), and "Down Down" (their only No. 1 hit). The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. Roundhouse (venue)
The Roundhouse is a performing arts and concert venue at the Grade II* listed former Railway roundhouse, railway engine shed in Chalk Farm, London, England. The building was erected in 1846–1847 by the London & North Western Railway as a Railway roundhouse, roundhouse, a circular building containing a railway turntable, but was used for that purpose for only about a decade. After being used as a warehouse for a number of years, the building fell into disuse just before World War II. It was first made a listed building in 1954. It reopened after 25 years, in 1964, as a performing arts venue, when the playwright Arnold Wesker established the Centre 42 Theatre Company and adapted the building as a theatre. ''Just Supposin is the thirteenth album by Status Quo. Co-produced by the group and John Eden, it was recorded at Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin. Released on 17 October 1980, it entered the UK albums chart at number 4. The Windmill Lane sessions were highly prolific for the band, resulting in two albums worth of material, ''Just Supposin and its follow-up '' Never Too Late'', released the next year. Initially, two singles were issued from the album, "What You're Proposing", and a double A-side, "Lies"/"Don't Drive My Car". At the end of 1981, after the release of ''Never Too Late'', an edited version of another track from ''Just Supposin, the uncharacteristic ballad "Rock 'n' Roll", also appeared as a single.
