''Welcome to the Club'' is an American animated short film based on the television series '' The Simpsons'' produced by Gracie Films and 20th Television Animation, debuting on the streaming service Disney+ on September 8, 2022, and received mixed reviews from critics. Like the previous shorts, it was directed by David Silverman. Plot Lisa and Bart approach a castle, and Lisa is excited to become an officially recognized Disney Princess. ''Welcome to the Club'' is a 1989 Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Cy Coleman. Despite its run of only twelve performances, it was nominated for two Tony Awards, and some other honors. The musical, set in a New York City jail for alimony violators, opened on April 13, 1989 at the Music Box Theatre. The director of the production was Peter Mark Schifter. Reviews were poor; the New York Times deemed it "embarrassingly out of touch with the present-day realities of men, women, sex, marriage and divorce", with limited praise given to Coleman's "inconsistent" score. After the unexpected success of ''You're Never Alone with a Schizophrenic'', Chrysalis Records wanted to keep the momentum by releasing another album. Because Hunter never wrote when he was on the road, it became a live album which was recorded at the Roxy Theatre (West Hollywood) over seven nights in November 1979 during his U.S tour. ''Welcome to the Club'' is a 1959 album by Nat King Cole, arranged by Dave Cavanaugh. Cole is accompanied by an uncredited Count Basie Orchestra, without Count Basie himself. ''Welcome to the Club'' was chosen as one of ''Billboard'' magazine's 'Spotlight Winners of the Week' upon its release in February 1959. ''Billboard'' commented that "Cole works out on a group of swinging, jazz-oriented offerings with interesting backings by Dave Cavanaugh...Cole himself, as usual, is fine and somewhat reminiscent of his earlier swinging efforts." Noel Sherman (30 June 1930 Brooklyn – 4 June 1972 New York) was an American lyricist and nightclub producer. Among the standards that Sherman composed, often with his brother Joe Sherman, are "Ramblin' Rose", " Graduation Day", " Eso Beso" ("That Kiss!") (no), "To the Ends of the Earth", and " Juke Box Baby". Career Sherman, born to Julius Sherman, a dentist, and Mary Rothman () graduated from New York University where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. The Brothers Johnson were an American funk and R&B band consisting of American musicians and brothers George ("Lightnin' Licks") and Louis E. Johnson ("Thunder Thumbs"). They achieved their greatest success from the mid-1970s to early 1980s, with three singles topping the R&B charts ("I'll Be Good to You", "Strawberry Letter 23", and " Stomp!"). Background Formation Guitarist/vocalist George and bassist/vocalist Louis formed the band Johnson Three Plus One with older brother Tommy and their cousin Alex Weir while attending school in Los Angeles, California. Commercial performance In the Netherlands, the preceding single "Different Worlds" ranked 17th on the singles chart, and the album entered the top 50 in the eighth week of the album chart and ranked 14th for two weeks. In addition, it spent six weeks the on Japan's Oricon Top 100 LP chart rising to 71. On the other hand, in the U.S., it was not as successful as its previous work, ranked 169th on the Billboard 200, and when it comes to singles, "Friday Night" ranked 29th on the Billboard mainstream rock chart.
