Reuben (band)
Reuben were an English three-piece musical group from Camberley, Surrey. Their music is a fusion of alternative rock and heavy metal, as their songs cover a variety of styles, ranging from heavy and upbeat, such as their 2005 single " Blamethrower" to slower, more melodic songs such as their 2004 single " Moving to Blackwater". The former style of song often featured vocalist Jamie Lenman switching between shouting and whispering, a technique often used in heavy metal and post-hardcore music. The band performed in the UK underground music scene. Although they attracted a significant fanbase, Reuben never achieved mainstream success, but did chart four songs in the UK Singles Chart. Their highest charting single was 2004's " Freddy Kreuger", that reached UK No. 53. In June 2008, Reuben entered a state of indefinite hiatus. Billy Talent is a Canadian rock band from Mississauga, Ontario. They formed in 1993 with lead vocalist Benjamin Kowalewicz, guitarist Ian D'Sa, bassist Jonathan Gallant, and drummer Aaron Solowoniuk. There have been no lineup changes, although Solowoniuk is currently taking a hiatus from the band due to a relapse of multiple sclerosis, and Loel Campbell is currently filling in for him. In the 28 years since their inception, Billy Talent has sold well over a million physical albums in Canada alone and nearly 3 million albums internationally. Vex Red are a band from Aldershot, England who merge hard rock with electronica. History 1995-2003: Early years and ''Start with a Strong and Persistent Desire'' Vex Red formed in 1995 in Aldershot, United Kingdom. The band self released two demo records in the late 1990s one titled "Vex Red" released in 1998 and the second "Sleep Does Nothing for You" the following year. Original band members were Sean Buckingham, Anthony Forbes, Keith Lambert, Nick Goulding and Dan Rice. In 1999 the band fired Buckingham and recruited vocalist and guitarist Terry Abbott to complete the line up. "A Kick in the Mouth" is the eighth single by Surrey-based rock band Reuben, released in June 2005. It is the second single taken from their second album, ''Very Fast Very Dangerous'' (although the first, Blamethrower, was a download-only single). It was made available in both CD and vinyl format, with a different single b-side on each format. It was received well in the music press, even earning the band a thumbs up from '' The Sun'' Newspaper, who called it 'seriously loud', as well as a 9/10 rating from the July 2005 issue of Rock Sound Magazine. The song demonstrated the simpler approach to rock and roll that features on the second album, leaving out the many twists and turns and time-changes that featured in the first album. Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s.
