Binary Star (band)
Binary Star is a hip-hop project by rapper One Be Lo (also known as OneManArmy), and was formerly a duo with rapper Senim Silla. The pair met in high school and formed the group in 1998 during their time in Hiawatha Correctional Facility. History Binary Star's debut effort, ''Waterworld'', was produced on a $500 budget and released in 1999, under the label Terrorist Records. An extensive tour of Michigan followed, as both members of the duo were on parole and were not permitted to leave the state. The purpose behind ''Waterworld'' was to raise money to produce a "real album", ''Masters of the Universe''. ''Masters of the Universe'' was essentially a remixed version of ''Waterworld'', but garnered more attention, selling over 20,000 copies. ''Masters of the Universe'' is the second and final studio album from American hip hop duo Binary Star ( Senim Silla & One Be Lo), released on October 31, 2000. The release is largely a remixed and rearranged version of their 1999 debut ''Waterworld''. The album was one of the most acclaimed underground hip hop releases of 2000, though it only sold around 20,000 copies. ''Masters of the Universe'' was re-released on July 25, 2006 by Infinite Rhythm Network. Critical reception In a review for AllMusic, Brad Mills wrote that the album has "everything a great hip-hop album requires, with varied beats, differing rhyme deliveries, and content you'll find yourself thinking about long after it's been said." Jason Powers (born May 12, 1978), better known by his stage name Elzhi (stylized as eLZhi), is an American rapper from Detroit, Michigan. He is a former member of Slum Village and now records as a solo artist. In his youth, he made numerous visits to the Hip-Hop shop in Detroit, taking advantage of open-mic nights hosted by fellow Detroit rapper Proof.
