Wallace Henry Smith (March 13, 1888 – June 10, 1930) was an American infielder in Major League Baseball from 1911 to 1914. Walter Alfred Smith (1874 – 14 November 1958) was an English footballer who made 90 appearances in the Football League for Lincoln City. He played as an inside left. Born in Lincoln, Lincolnshire Lincoln () is a cathedral city, a non-metropolitan district, and the county town of Lincolnshire, England. In the 2021 Census, the Lincoln district had a population of 103,813. The 2011 census gave the urban area of Lincoln, including North H ..., Smith played local football in the Lincoln area before joining Lincoln City. He scored 23 goals from 99 appearances in senior competition, the last of which was at the end of the 1902–03 season. He joined Second Division club Small Heath, but never made a competitive appearance, and went on to play for Midland League club Newark, Southern League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion, Norwich City and Southend United, and other non-league teams. Wally Smith (footballer, Born 1885)
Walter Smith (1885 – May 1917) was an English professional footballer who scored 30 goals in 100 appearances in the Football League playing for Bury and Birmingham. He played as an inside forward. Smith was born in Bootle, Lancashire. After an unsuccessful trial with Liverpool in 1907, he played for Southend United and Chester before joining Bury in December 1911. Though his first season ended in relegation from the First Division, Smith stayed another two years, and over his career at Bury he scored at a rate better than one goal every three games. He joined fellow Second Division club Birmingham towards the end of the 1913–14 season. The club were looking for a creative player to supply chances for Andy Smith and Jack Hall, but Smith lost out in this role to England international Jimmy Windridge, whose second spell with Birmingham coincided with Smith's arrival. Wally John Fullerton-Smith (born 9 July 1960) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. An Australian international and Queensland State of Origin representative back-rower, he played club football in Queensland, France, England and New South Wales. The Redcliffe forward, originally from Roma, Queensland, spent four months in France with the Tonneins club in 1982-83 before using the State of Origin series, State of Origin stage to force his way into the Australian side against New Zealand in 1983. Fullerton Smith played in the last two Tests against Great Britain in 1984 before joining English club Leeds in the 1984-85 off-season. He toured New Zealand again in 1985 and was named man-of-the-match in the third game of that year's State of Origin series. The brand was purchased in 1990 from Beatrice Foods by ConAgra Foods during the LBO firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts' dismantling of the company and is still currently a property of ConAgra. Early history The company was founded in 1922 by Dr. Ilhan New, later founder of Yuhan Corporation in South Korea, and Wallace J. "Wally" Smith from the University of Michigan. The first product, canned mung bean sprouts, was originally sold in Smith's Detroit, Michigan, grocery store. New left the company for personal reasons in 1930, and Smith was killed by lightning in 1937. Regardless, the company flourished. Walter Laws Smith (November 12, 1926 – March 6, 2023) was a British-born American mathematician, known for his contributions to applied probability theory. Biography Smith was born in London on November 12, 1926. Smith received a B.A. in mathematics (1947) from Cambridge University, having gained First Class in the Mathematical Tripos Part 1 and Part 2. He then received an M.A. (1951) and Ph.D (1953) from Cambridge. His dissertation was entitled ''Stochastic Sequences of Events'' advised by Henry Daniels and D. R. Cox, with whom he published the book ''Queues'' (1961) and also published with in his early years. He became a professor of statistics at The University of North Carolina Chapel Hill (1954–56 and 1958–), and he was an emeritus professor in the Department of Statistics and Operations Research.
