Waiting For Bojangles
''Waiting for Bojangles'' () is the debut novel by Olivier Bourdeaut, published by Éditions Finitude on 7 January 2016. It was an international bestseller. An English translation by Regan Kramer was published by Simon & Schuster on 19 March 2019. A film adaptation of the same name was released in 2021. Plot The novel tells the story of an eccentric couple, Louise and George, and their young son. They live together in their apartment, which also accommodates ''Mademoiselle Superfluous'', a pet demoiselle crane from Numidia, and, occasionally, the Senator. Nobody opens the mail. Each day the couple dance to the song " Mr. Bojangles", as covered by Nina Simone. The narrative depicts Louise's battle with mental illness and how the family struggles to cope. The novel is written partially in rhyme and is interspersed with entries from George's diary. Olivier Bourdeaut (born 1980 in Nantes, Loire-Atlantique) is a French contemporary writer. His first novel, ''Waiting for Bojangles'' (''En attendant Bojangles''), published in January 2016 at , was awarded the 2016 Prix France Culture/Télérama, the 2016 Grand prix RTL-Lire, the 2016 Prix Emmanuel Roblès and the 2016 Prix France Télévisions. Prix France Culture-Télérama
Prix was an American power pop band formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1975 by Tommy Hoehn and Jon Tiven. The group ended up primarily as a studio project. Its recordings were produced by Tiven along with former Big Star member Chris Bell (American musician), Chris Bell, who also played guitar and sang backup vocals. Prix is also famous for its use of banjo. Alex Chilton also participated in the recordings, along with session drummer Hilly Michaels. Although the group generated some major record label interest—notably from Mercury Records and Sony Music, Columbia/CBS Records—it ultimately only released a double A-side single on Terry Ork, Ork Records in 1977 and a single on Miracle Records in 1978.
