WRIS-FM (106.7 FM broadcasting, FM) is a radio station licensed to Mount Horeb, Wisconsin and serving the Madison, Wisconsin, Madison market. History WRIS-FM's history dates back to October 2005, when Mid-West Family Broadcasting began testing the 106.7 FM signal under the call sign WYZM, airing smooth jazz music normally heard on sister station WMGN during its "Magic Sunday Morning" program. The smooth jazz was there only temporarily, for on December 1, 2005, WYZM changed to WSLK and began simulcasting the classic hits format of sister station WHLK ("The Lake at 93-1 and 106-7"). WWHG (105.9 FM) is a commercial mainstream rock radio station licensed to Evansville, Wisconsin, and serving the areas of Madison and Janesville. The station is owned by Scott Thompson, through licensee Big Radio, and began a new rock music format as "105-9 The Hog" on January 13, 2007, after several years with a Rhythmic Top 40 format. WWHG is the flagship station for radio play-by-play of UW-Whitewater athletics. History After being instituted a construction permit as WEBU in 1988, the station signed on with an adult contemporary format, and then classic rock, all under the call letters WMJB. Rhythmic contemporary, also known as Rhythmic Top 20, Rhythmic Top 30, Rhythmic Top 40, Rhythmic CHR or rhythmic crossover, is a primarily American music-radio format that includes a mix of EDM, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip-hop and upbeat R&B hits. Rhythmic contemporary never uses hard rock or country in its airplay, but it may occasionally use a reggae, Latin, reggaeton, or an urban contemporary gospel hit.
