''WNBA on ESPN'' is an Television in the United States, American television sports presentation show broadcast by ESPN. It premiered on June 23, 1997. It consists of branding used for the presentation of Women's National Basketball Association games. Background In June 2003, the WNBA signed a new six-year agreement with ESPN on ABC, ABC Sports and ESPN to televise regular-season games and playoff games from 2003 through 2008. It was also announced that ESPN2 would televise a half-hour pre-game show before each broadcast. In June 2007, the WNBA signed another contract extension with ESPN. The new television deal ran from 2009 to 2016. A minimum of 18 games would be broadcast on ESPN on ABC, ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 each season. The consist of branding used for presentation of Women's National Basketball Association. Background In the early years, two women's-oriented networks, Lifetime (TV channel), Lifetime and Oxygen (TV network), Oxygen, also broadcast games including the first game of the WNBA. NBC showed games from 1997 to 2002 as part of their ''NBA on NBC'' coverage before the league transferred the rights to WNBA on ESPN, ABC/ESPN. 2023 WNBA Season
The 2023 WNBA season was the 27th season of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The defending champions, the Las Vegas Aces, repeated as champions after defeating the New York Liberty 3 games to 1 in the Finals. The regular season was expanded to 40 games per team, becoming the most games scheduled in a single WNBA season. The 2022 season saw the schedule increase to 36 games and was the previous high for the regular season. This season was also the second straight year that the playoffs used an all-series format after returning to the format in 2022. The first round used a 2–1 format, with the higher seed hosting the first two games (differing from the 1–1–1 format previously used in 2015). Mark Vernon Jones is a Canadian sportscaster for ABC and ESPN and the primary play-by-play announcer for Sacramento Kings games on NBC Sports California. Jones has been a member of the ESPN broadcasting family since 1990. Before then Jones worked for The Sports Network (TSN) in Canada. He mostly works college football and NBA games on ABC and ESPN. LaChina Robinson is a basketball analyst who calls college basketball games for ESPN, Fox Sports 1,NBC Sports and FS South. Robert Wischusen (; born October 1, 1971) is an American sports commentator who is currently a hockey, college football and basketball voice for ESPN and the radio voice announcer for the New York Jets on WAXQ-FM.
