WMLA (AM)
WMLA was a radio station broadcasting on 1440 kHz AM licensed to Normal, Illinois, United States. It broadcast between 1962 and 1990 and was last owned by Mid America Radio Group. History Beardstown residents Robert and Margareta Sudbrink, through their McLean County Broadcasting Company, obtained a construction permit to build and operate a new daytime-only AM radio station at Normal on November 27, 1961. The station, with the call letters WIOK and transmitter north of Downs, debuted September 17, 1962, with full-service programming and affiliation with the Mutual Broadcasting System. Two years after signing on, the Sudbrinks purchased a piece of property on Main Street in downtown Normal to move the studios from the Downs transmitter. Later that year, the station was approved to begin nighttime service, using a second transmitter site further to the north in Downs. Normal is a town in McLean County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the town's population was 52,736. Normal is the smaller of two principal municipalities of the Bloomington–Normal metropolitan area, and Illinois' seventh most populous community outside the Chicago metropolitan area. WFNI (1070 AM broadcasting, AM) is a commercial radio, commercial radio station in Indianapolis, Indianapolis, Indiana. It is owned by locally based Emmis Communications and carries a sports radio, sports radio format, featuring ESPN Radio programming. The studios and offices are located at 40 Monument Circle in downtown Indianapolis. WFNI's sports format is also heard on sister station 93.1 WIBC (FM), WIBC-HD3. WFNI's AM signal, 50,000 watts by day and 10,000 watts at night, went dark (broadcasting), dark at midnight on August 3, 2021. Emmis Broadcasting sold the land on which the six-tower array stood, off Perry Worth Drive near Interstate 65 in Whitestown, Indiana. Boone County is a county in the U.S. state of Indiana. As of 2020, the population was 70,812. The county seat (and the county's only incorporated city) is Lebanon. Lebanon (/ˈlɛbnən/) is a city in and the county seat of Boone County, Indiana, United States. The population was 15,792 at the 2010 census. WXNT (1430 AM) is a commercial radio station in Indianapolis, Indiana. The station is owned by Cumulus Media, and carries an all-sports radio format, as an affiliate of the CBS Sports Radio Network. WXNT's schedule consists of CBS Sports Radio shows and live sporting events. WXNT studios and offices are located on N. Meridian Street, along with sister stations 99.5 WZPL and 107.9 WNTR. The transmitter and antenna are located off Knollton Road at West 46th Street, on the northwest side of Indianapolis. Martinsville is a city in Washington Township, Morgan County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 11,828 at the 2010 United States Census. The city is the county seat of Morgan County. History Martinsville was founded in 1822. It is said to be named for John Martin, a county commissioner. A post office has been in operation at Martinsville since 1823.
