Owned by América CV Station Group, Inc., it is sister station to WFUN-LD (channel 48). The two stations share studios in Hialeah Gardens; WJAN-CD's transmitter is located due south of Aladdin City. On cable, WJAN-CD is available on Comcast Xfinity channel 12 in Miami-Dade County and channel 15 in Broward County in standard-definition television, and on channel 439 in high definition. WLMF-LD (channel 53) is a low-powered television station licensed to Miami, Florida. Founded in 1987 by Paging Systems, Inc., a company based in Burlingame, California, WLMF aired programs from the first channel of SCOLA, a service offering European television news and information. Currently, WLMF is owned by America CV Network as an affiliate of LATV. WLMF moved from channel 53 to channel 51 upon transitioning to digital broadcasting, and has an application for a low-powered digital service that would air on channel 39. Earlier attempts to move to channel 3 were dismissed. The move to channel 51 was required because channels 52 through 59 were discontinued as part of the 2009 digital television transition and sold off as blocks of UHF spectrum. A flash cut, also called a flash cutover, is an immediate change in a complex system, with no phase-in period. In the United States, some telephone area codes were split or overlaid immediately, rather than being phased in with a permissive dialing period. An example is telephone area code 213, which serves downtown Los Angeles and its immediate environs, split in January 1951 into 213 and 714 all at once. Another example is an immediate switch from an analog television channel to a digital television channel on the same frequency, where the two cannot operate in parallel without interference. The class A television service is a system for regulating some low-power television (LPTV) stations in the United States.
