WDMT (FM)
Allegheny Mountain Radio or AMR is a network of full service, freeform-formatted community radio stations broadcasting to portions of West Virginia and Virginia in the United States. The stations serve Pocahontas County, West Virginia as well as Bath County, Virginia and Highland County, Virginia. This network is unique in that these are the only radio stations broadcasting from the three counties. The area sits within the National Radio Quiet Zone (NRQZ), which surrounds the Green Bank Radio Telescope in Green Bank, West Virginia. Due to the NRQZ and surrounding mountainous terrain, few out-of-area radio signals penetrate these counties. Monterey, Virginia
Monterey is a town in Highland County, Virginia, United States. The population was 147 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Highland County. Huntersville, West Virginia
Huntersville is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, United States in the Alleghany Mountains. As of the 2010 census, its population was 73. It is located six miles east of Marlinton and four miles west of Minnehaha Springs. Huntersville received its name because it was a rendezvous for trappers and hunters who came to trade pelts for supplies. It served as the county seat of Pocahontas County until 1891 when the county's residents voted to move the seat to Marlinton. A local newspaper called '' The Pocahontas Times'' is distributed in the area. Huntersville has many sporting opportunities. Because of its proximity to Knapps Creek flowing nearby, fishermen can catch trout, bass, sun perch, and other fish. Native brook trout streams are also tucked away in quiet places close to the town. Height above average terrain (HAAT), or (less popularly) effective height above average terrain (EHAAT), is the vertical position of an antenna site is above the surrounding landscape. HAAT is used extensively in FM radio and television, as it is more important than effective radiated power (ERP) in determining the range of broadcasts (VHF and UHF in particular, as they are line of sight transmissions). For international coordination, it is officially measured in meters, even by the Federal Communications Commission in the United States, as Canada and Mexico have extensive border zones where stations can be received on either side of the international boundaries. Franklin is a town in Pendleton County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 486 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Pendleton County. Franklin was established in 1794 and named for Francis Evick, an early settler. Hillsboro, West Virginia
Hillsboro is a town in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 232 at the 2020 census. History Hillsboro was named for pioneer John (Richard) Hill, from North Carolina, who built a log cabin near what is now Lobelia. Most of the early settlers were Scots-Irish and worked in agriculture and stock raising. In the 1800s the town of Hillsboro centered on the educational institution Little Levels Academy. Established in 1842, the school closed 18 years later at the onset of the Civil War. In 1865, the county purchased the building and ran it as a public school through the 1880s, and it became a school of higher order for boys called Hillsboro Academy. The basement of the Methodist Church served as a school of high order for girls called Hillsboro College, or Little Levels Seminary.
