Wife carrying ( or , , ) is a contest in which competitors race while each carrying a partner. Whilst most teams consist of a man carrying a woman there are generally no rules about gender or marital status. The objective is for the runner to carry their team-mate through a special obstacle track in the fastest time. The sport was first introduced in 1992 in , Finland. Several types of carrying may be practised: either a classic piggyback, a fireman's carry (over the shoulder), or Estonian-style ("wife" upside-down on his back with their legs over the neck and shoulders). Western Cartridge Company
The Western Cartridge Company was an American manufacturer of small arms and ammunition formerly based in East Alton, Illinois. Founded in 1898, it was the forerunner of the Olin Corporation, formed in 1944, of which Western was absorbed into. Prior to that, Western acquired the Winchester Repeating Arms Company after Winchester went into receivership in 1931. The two would merge in 1935 to form Winchester-Western. History Franklin W. Olin received an engineering degree from Cornell University in 1886. After working at powder mills in the eastern United States, he was one of several investors establishing the Equitable Powder Company in 1892 at East Alton, Illinois. Production of blasting powder for southern Illinois coal mining began in 1893. The World Canals Conference (WCC) is an annual conference about canals and other waterways worldwide. The first conference took place in 1988, and the 2019 conference was the thirty-second. Wisconsin Collegiate Conference
The Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) is a collegiate athletic conference made up primarily of the branch campuses of the Universities of Wisconsin as well as one private college. The conference currently sponsors men's basketball and women's volleyball and formerly sponsored in co-ed soccer, women's basketball, men's tennis, and men's golf. All schools are considered junior colleges and athletes are only eligible for two years. In 2020, after all schools suspended athletic events due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the WCC went on hiatus. The West Coast Conference (WCC) — known as the California Basketball Association from 1952 to 1956 and then as the West Coast Athletic Conference until 1989 — is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I consisting of nine member schools across the states of California, Oregon, and Washington. World Cycling Championship
The UCI World Championships are annual competitions promoted by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to determine world champion cyclists. They are held in several different styles of racing, in a different country each year. Championship winners wear a white jersey with coloured bands around the chest for the following year. The similarity to the colours of a rainbow gives them the colloquial name of " the rainbow jersey." The first three individuals or teams in each championship win gold, silver and bronze medals. Former world champions are allowed to wear a trim to their collar and sleeves in the same pattern as the rainbow jersey. There are men's, women's and mixed doubles championships, as well as men's and women's versions of junior and senior championships. There is also a world championship for wheelchair curling.
