Timiș County
Timiș () is a county (''județ'') of western Romania on the border with Hungary and Serbia, in the historical region of Banat, with the county seat at Timișoara. It is the westernmost and the largest county in Romania in terms of land area. The county is also part of the Danube–Criș–Mureș–Tisa Euroregion. Name The name of the county comes from the Timiș River, known in Roman antiquity as ''Tibisis'' or ''Tibiscus''. Nițchidorf (literally " Niczky's village"; german: Nitzkydorf; hu, Niczkyfalva, originally ''Kutas'') is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Blajova ( hu, Balázsd or ''Balázsfalva''), Duboz ( hu, Temesdoboz) and Nițchidorf. Geography The commune totals an area of 6,412 ha, of which 5,398 agricultural land and 1,014 non-agricultural land. It is located in the plain area of Timiș County, in the hydrographic basin of the Timiș River, bordering Caraș-Severin County and the hilly area on the river corridor. History Traces of a fortress were discovered on the nearby Schlossberg ("Castle Hill"; ro, Dealul Cetății). According to Hungarian historians and Felix Milleker, quoted by , there was a medieval settlement here, attested in 1370 with the name ''Kwtus''. Chevereșu Mare
Chevereșu Mare ( hu, Nagykövéres; german: Großkeweresch) is a commune in Timiș County, Romania. It is composed of three villages: Chevereșu Mare (commune seat), Dragșina and Vucova. Geography Chevereșu Mare is located in the central-southern part of Timiș County, in the place where three plains meet: the hilly plain of Gătaia, the gulf of Lugoj and the low plain of Timiș. It borders the commune of Racovița and the town of Buziaș to the east, the commune of Nițchidorf to the south, the communes of Sacoșu Turcesc and Moșnița Nouă to the west and the commune of Remetea Mare and the town of Recaș to the north. The Șurgani (locally also called ''Șorcan'') is a left tributary of the river Timiș in Romania. It discharges into the Timiș in Dragșina. Its length is and its basin size is . Hydrography The Șurgani originates in Dumbrava Forest, east of the town of Buziaș. It crosses the central part of the Banat plain and, after crossing the village of Chevereșu Mare it joins the Timiș south of the village of Dragșina.
